Walther PP (Walther Polizei-Pistole) er en pistol designet av den tyske våpenprodusenten Walther Waffenfabrik i 1929 beregnet for politiet.

Design

Pistolen kom i to utgaver, «Polizei-Pistole» PP (politipistol) og «Polizei-Pistole Kriminal» PPK (kriminalpoliti-pistol)[1][2] hvor sistnevnte ble introdusert i 1931, og var en kortere versjon beregnet på å bli båret skjult. Forkortelsen blir ofte mistolket for «Polizei-Pistole Kurz», (kort politipistol) på grunn av dette. Begge pistolene har double-action avtrekk, er masseretardert sluttstykke og utvendig hane. Det vanligste kaliberet for PP og PPK er 7,65 x 17 mm Browning men de ble også produsert i 9 x 17 mm Browning, 6,35 mm og .22 Long Rifle

Produksjon

Pistolene ble produsert i stort antall under den andre verdenskrig og var populære i Wehrmacht og sivilt. Pistolen konkurrerte hardt mot de lignende pistolene Mauser HSc og Sauer 38H. PP/PPK pistolene ble stemplet med «Waffenfabrik Walther, Zella-Mehlis» frem til 1945. Etter krigen ble pistolen produsert på lisens i Frankrike av Manurhin ifra 1952 til 1986. Disse ble stemplet med «Manurhin St. Etienne» eller «Walther Ulm», selv om begge typer ble produsert på Manurhinfabrikken. Pistolene produseres også i USA av Smith & Wesson på lisens. Pistolene har etter andre verdenskrig også blitt kopiert i stor utstrekning.

Trivia

James Bond brukte PPK i noen av filmene, før han gikk over til Walther P99. Detektiven Knut Gribb bruker også denne pistolen.
