Edwin Paul Scharff (født 21. mars 1887 i Neu-Ulm; død 18. mai 1955 i Hamburg), var en betydelig tysk billedhogger og grafiker fra første halvdel av 1900-tallet.

Liv

Han forlot hjembyen da han var 15 år gammel for å gå kunsthåndverkskole i München. Han fikk derfra opptak ved det kongelige akademiet for skjønne kunster, og ble maler.

Han fikk stipendopphold ett år i Paris (1912/1913). I løpet av det slo han over til skulptur, og gikk inn i en svært produktiv fase, parallelt med at han ble utnevnt til professor i Berlin.

Den nasjonalsosialistiske maktovertakelsen førte tilsynelatende ikke til problemer. Han mottok et oppdrag til portal for utstillingen Schaffendes Volk i Düsseldorf: To store bronsefigurer til 100 000 Riksmark i 1937, for noen måneder senere å bli entartet-erklært med arbeidsforbud.[8]

Etter den andre verdenskrig underviste han ved Landeskunstschule Hamburg, og døde der i 1955.

Edwin-Scharff-Museum ble åpnet i Neu-Ulm i 1999. Dette skal gi et varig overblikk over hans livsverk. Deler av livsverket ble også vist ved documenta-utstillingene i 1955 og 1959. Det finnes også en minnepris: Edwin-Scharff-Preis.
