Edward Rutherfurd, psevdonym for Francis Edward Wintle, (født 1948) er en britisk forfatter.

Han har skrevet en rekke historiske romaner, som blander fiktive personer og familier med faktiske begivenheter og mennesker som har levd. Hans bøker følger steder og nasjoner opp gjennom historien, fra begynnelsen til moderne tid. Han har konstruert fire til seks familier og forteller historien til deres etterkommere, vever dem inn og ut av faktiske historiske hendelser, og hvor de samhandling med hverandre og faktiske figurer og personligheter for å sannsynliggjøre sin fortelling. Hans romaner er vanligvis minst 500 sider lange, stundom opp til det dobbelte. Romanene er delt i et antall deler hvor hvert kapittel representerer en ulik tidsalder i et område for romanens fortelling. Bøkene har vanligvis et omfattende familietre i begynnelsen, og hver generasjon tilsvarer de korresponderende kapitler.

Rutherfurd ble født i Salisbury i England. Han har vært bosatt i nærheten av Dublin i Irland siden begynnelsen av 1990-årene, men fordeler sin tid mellom Irland og Nord-Amerika
