Bent Sølves

Bent Sølves (etablert 1967 i Oslo, endte 1. mai 1969 i Drammen) var et norsk popjazz-orkester, kjent fra fjernsyn og plateutgivelser, samt fra flystyrten der fem av de seks medlemmene omkom.

Det ble startet av Kjell Karlsen som tillegg til hans allerede populære Kjell Karlsens orkester. Terje Fjærn ble engasjert som leder, og de debuterte for Kirsti Sparboe (Skien, 1967) og hadde lengre engasjement blant annet ved Astoria i Trondheim og Hotel Viking i Oslo. Ellers bestod det av Knut Riisnæs og Mikkel Flagstad (saxofon), Ole Jacob Hansen (trommer), Kåre Furuholmen (trompet) (far til Magne Furuholmen), Magne Henriksen (orgel og gitar), og tidvis vokalister som Kjell Grunnteig.

Fjærn tok med seg Riisnæs, Hansen og Henriksen (samt Carl Magnus Neumann) og startet eget orkester i desember 1968. For Bent Sølves overtok da Furuholmen som leder og engasjerte (den fra Melodi Grand Prix kjente) tannlegeassistenten Vigdis Mostad fra Orkanger som vokalist. Andre medlemmer som etter hvert kom til var de tre Molde-musikerne Bjørn Solstad, Svein Jens Thorsø og Geir Schumann piano.

Orkesterets ferd endte med Bent Sølves-ulykken. På vei til spillejobb i klubben Lorry i Linköping gjorde dårlig vær at flyet[1] snudde og gikk i spinn i en flystyrt ved Holmen i Drammen rundt kl. 15.00 den 1. mai 1969. Alle omkom (piloten, Furuholmen, Mostad, Schumann, Solstad og Thorsø), noe som ble bivånet av blant andre Morten Harket.[2] Flagstad, som hadde flyskrekk, kjørte bil og var ikke med.

Bandets siste spillejobb var Hotel Viking to dager tidligere, og det hadde akkurat ferdigstilt en plateinnspilling, Anita Hegerlands debut-EP Albertino (Nor-Disc, 1969). Bent Sølves bidro også til en utgivelse av Fredrik Friis (1969).
