Mekatronikk

Mekatronikk er eit fagfelt som kombinerer mekanikk og elektronikk. I kompliserte system, som til dømes robotar, er det eit samspel mellom rørlege mekaniske delar, aktuatorar (ofte elektriske motorar), sensorar som måler akselerasjon, posisjon, osb. og ei eller anna form for reguleringssystem. Mekatroniske system inneheld òg ofte programvare som realiserer kontrollsystemet, kommuniserer med omverda, osb. Kontrolldelen er ofte eit innbaka system. Når det er naudsynt med større krefter, som til dømes i ei gravemaskin, fjellborerigg og liknande vert det nytta hydrauliske aktuatorar. Andre døme på mekatroniske produkt er panteautomatar, robotiserte støvsugarar, moderne datastyrte symaskiner og automatiske billettmaskiner.

Omgrepet mekatronikk vart først nytta av Tetsuro Mori, ein senioringeniør i det japanske firmaet Yaskawa i 1969. I dag har disiplinen Mekatronikk spreidd seg over heile verda, men Japan er framleis leiande på dette området.

I Noreg kan ein utdanne seg til ingeniør innan Mekatronikk (Bachelor og Master) ved Universitetet i Agder, studiestad Grimstad og ved Universitetet i Sør-Øst Norge, studiestad Kongsberg. Dei første mekatronikkingeniørane i Norden vart uteksaminerte frå Høgskolen i Agder i 1990.

I eldre tradisjon er faget primært orientert rundt maskinteknikk, både i ingeniørfaga og i handverksfaga. Automasjonsmekanikar er eit fag i vidaregåande skule. Tidlegare har det også vore spesialstudiar for maskinmekanikarar og andre relevante yrkesgrupper.

Konferansar

  • IEEE/ASME Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics er den leiande innan området, og frå 2007 vert denne konferansen halden kvart år, mot annankvart år tidlegare. Konferansen vart grunnlagd i Tokyo, Japan i 1997 og vart sist (2007) halden ved ETH i Zurich, Sveits.
