Kiryat Ye'arim (hebraisk קִרְיַת יְעָרִים), òg kalla Telz-Stone, er ein by (lokal kommune) i Jerusalem distrikt i Israel.

I følgje Israelsk statistisk sentralbyrå (CBS), hadde Kiryat Ye'arim mot slutten av 2005 3 100 innbyggjarar, hovudsakleg jødar. Han er ein haredi-by med mange emigrantar frå Nord-Amerika, Europa og Sør-Afrika.

Geografi

Kiryat Ye'arim ligg kring 10 km vest for Jerusalem, like nord for hovudvegen mellom Tel Aviv og Jerusalem. Nordaust for Kiryat Ye'arim ligg den arabiske byen Abu Ghosh. Kiryat Ye'arim ligg mellom 662 og 750 meter over havet.[1]

Historie

Kiryat Ye'arim er kalla opp etter Kiriath-Jearim som er nemnt i Bibelen i samband med at kong David frakta Paktas ark til Jerusalem. Her skal arka ha lagt i 20 år, før David frakta han til Jerusalem (Første Krønikebok 13, 5-8). Somme meiner at ein nærliggande tell er restane av den bibelske byen. Ein annan teori er at den bibeslek byen er Abu Ghosh. Namnet Telz-Stone var til ære for grunnleggnaren og styreformannen i American Greetings, Irving I. Stone, som finansierte landsbyen.
