Interferon alfa-2a terpegil, antaranya dijual dengan jenama Pegasys, merupakan ubat yang digunakan untuk merawat hepatitis C dan hepatitis B.[1] Untuk hepatitis C ia biasanya digunakan bersama ribavirin dan kadar penyembuhan adalah sekitar 24 hingga 92%.[1][2] Untuk hepatitis B ia boleh digunakan secara bersendirian.[3] Ia diberi melalui suntikan di bawah kulit.[1]

Kesan sampingan pengambilan ubatan ini merupakan perkara biasa,[4] yang mungkin termasuk sakit kepala, rasa letih, kemurungan, masalah tidur, keguguran rambut, loya, sakit di tempat suntikan dan demam.[1] Antara kesan sampingan teruk mungkin termasuk psikosis, gangguan autoimun, pembekuan darah atau jangkitan.[1] Penggunaan bersama ribavirin tidak digalakkan semasa mengandung.[1] Interferon alfa-2a terpegil berada dalam keluarga ubat interferon alfa.[1] Ia dipegilkan untuk melindungi molekul daripada terurai.[4]

Interferon alfa-2a terpegil ini telah diluluskan untuk kegunaan perubatan di Amerika Syarikat pada tahun 2002.[1] Ia berada dalam Senarai Ubat Penting Pertubuhan Kesihatan Sedunia.[5] Kos borong di negara membangun adalah antara 500.00 sehingga 4,800.00 dolar AS untuk kegunaan 12 minggu.[6] Di Amerika Syarikat anggaran harga berada pada sekitar AS$9,250.00,[4] manakala di United Kingdom penggunaan ubatan selama 12 minggu menelas kos NHS kira-kira 1492.80 paun.[3]
