Benzofenons (difenilketons, difenilmetanons, benzoilbenzols, С6H5–СО–С6H5) ir aromātiskais ketons ar diviem benzola gredzeniem molekulā. Benzofenons ir balta kristāliska viela (rombiski kristāli). Ir pazīstama otra benzofenona modifikācija - monoklīni kristāli ar kušanas temperatūru 27 °C (šī modifikācija ir ļoti nestabila).
Iegūšana
Benzofenonu iegūst benzola reakcijā ar tetrahloroglekli, hidrolizējot radušos difenildihlormetānu.
Var iegūt arī Frīdela—Kraftsa acilēšanas reakcijā no benzola un benzoilhlorīda.
Izmantošana
Aizvietotie benzofenoni ietilpst aizsarglīdzekļu pret UV starojumu sastāvā.
Benzofenona atvasinājumu p,p'-bis(N,N-dimetilamino)benzofenonu jeb Mihlera ketonu izmanto organiskajā sintēzē (sintētisko krāsvielu ražošanā).
Benzofenona un nātrija maisījumu lieto šķīdinātāju sausināšanai.
