Viktoras Butkus (1954)

Viktoras Butkus (g. 1954 m. sausio 7 d. Krasnojarskas, Rusija) – Lietuvos chemikas, habilituotas fizinių mokslų daktaras, vienas iš MO muziejaus steigėjų.

Biografija

1976 m. baigė Vilniaus universiteto Chemijos fakultetą. 1982 m. Maskvos Bioorganinės chemijos institute įgijo mokslų daktaro laipsnį, 1990 m. Valstybiniame Maskvos universitete – bioorganinės chemijos habilituoto mokslų daktaro laipsnį.

1976–1979 m. Lietuvos mokslų akademijos Zoologijos ir parazitologijos instituto mokslinis bendradarbis. 1979–1995 m. dirbo Biotechnologijos institute (iki 1982 m. vyresnysis mokslinis bendradarbis, 1984–1988 m. Nukleino rūgščių chemijos laboratorijos vadovas, 1988–1989 m. Molekulinės biologijos fermentų skyriaus vadovas, 1989–1994 m. instituto direktoriaus pavaduotojas mokslui, 1993 m. paskirtas vadovauti institute įkurtam Molekulinės biologijos centrui).

Nuo 1995 m. UAB „Fermentas“ bendrovės valdybos pirmininkas, 1995–2008 m. „Fermento“ generalinis direktorius. 2002 m. įsteigus kontroliuojančiąją bendrovę „Fermentas International Inc.“, buvo jos generalinis direktorius ir valdybos pirmininkas.[1]. 2010 m. įmonę „Fermentas“ pardavęs JAV kompanijai „Thermo Fisher Scientific“.[2]

1994–1997 m. Vilniaus universiteto, 1994 m. Vytauto Didžiojo universiteto dėstytojas. 1995 m. suteiktas profesoriaus vardas.[2]

Nuo 2002 m. yra Vilniaus universiteto, nuo 2004 m. Biotechnologijos instituto, nuo 2001 m. Lietuvos žinių ekonomikos forumo tarybų narys.

2009 m. kartu su žmona įsteigė MO muziejų.

Mokslinė veikla

Yra paskelbęs daugiau nei 40 publikacijų tarptautinėje mokslinėje spaudoje deoksiribonukleorūgščių (DNR) restrikcijos ir modifikacijos fermentų, DNR baltymų sąveikos temomis. 16 išradimų autorius.

Įvertinimas

  • 1994 m. – Lietuvos nacionalinė premija
  • 2001 m. – Lietuvos didžiojo kunigaikščio Gedimino ordino Riterio kryžius
  • 2007 m. – „LT tapatybės“ apdovanojimas už Lietuvos įvaizdžio gerinimą pasaulyje verslo srityje [3]
  • 2007 m. – ISM Vadybos ir ekonomikos universiteto Magistro klubo apdovanojimas „Metų verslo žmogumi“ [4]
  • 2007 m. – visuomeninės organizacijos „Junior Achievement“ Verslo šlovės galerijos laureatas [5].
  • VU TSPMI „Metų valstybės kūrėjo 2018“ apdovanojimas, skirtas labiausiai Lietuvos valstybei 2018 m. nusipelniusiems asmenims.[6]
  • LRT „Metų apdovanojimuose“ 2018 m. Danguolė ir Viktoras Butkai paskelbti „Metų žmogus“ nominacijos laureatais.[7] Apdovanojimas skirtas už MO muziejaus įsteigimą.
  • 2019 m. Danguolė ir Viktoras Butkai paskelbti Vilniaus garbės piliečiais.[8]
  • „Žmonės 2019“ apdovanojimuose MO muziejaus steigėjai išrinkti „Metų žmonėmis“.[9] Apdovanojimas skiriamas žmonėms, savo idėjomis ir darbais rodantiems pavyzdį kitiems.
