Hidžazo armija (arab. الجيش الحجازي), dar žinoma kaip Arabų armija (arab. الجيش العربي) – karinės pajėgos, sukėlusios Arabų sukilimą per Pirmąjį pasaulinį karą. Hidžazo karalystės šarifas Huseinas bin Ali, 1916 m. paskelbtas „arabų sultonu“,[1] vadovavo Hidžazo armijai, sukilusiai prieš Osmanų imperiją, siekdamas galutinio tikslo – suvienyti arabų tautą nepriklausomoje vyriausybėje.[2] Finansiškai ir kariškai remiamos britų, Huseino pajėgos palaipsniui judėjo į šiaurę per Hidžazą ir, kovodamos kartu su britų kontroliuojamomis Egipto ekspedicinėmis pajėgomis, galiausiai užėmė Damaską. Ten Hidžazo armijos nariai įkūrė trumpalaikę monarchiją, vadinamą Sirijos Arabų karalystę, kuriai vadovavo šarifo Huseino sūnus Faisalas.

Pajėgos

Hidžazo armiją sudarė apie 5 000 reguliariųjų pajėgų ir daug tūkstančių nereguliariųjų pajėgų.[3] Daugelis reguliariosios armijos karių buvo buvę Osmanų imperijos kariuomenės nariai arabai, kurie pabėgo ir prisijungė prie Arabų sukilimo. Nereguliariosios pajėgos – tai daugiausia neapmokyti arabai, kurie trumpam prisijungė prie sukilimo, kai kovos vyko netoli jų namų. Kovoms užsitęsus toliau nuo Mekos, daugelis karių iš Mekos apylinkių nusprendė, kad savo vaidmenį atliko, ir grįžo namo. Nuolatinis britų aukso ir ginklų srautas į Hidžazo armijos rankas buvo pagrindinė sukilimo varomoji jėga. Daugelis genčių kariavo už tą, kuris jiems siūlė daugiausia pinigų. Kai kurių genčių vadai sutikdavo kovoti už britus ir priimdavo jų užmokestį bei ginklus, o netrukus po to pradėdavo kovoti už turkus, nes šie pasiūlydavo gentims mokėti daugiau. Šis nepastovumas rodė, kad daugelis genčių buvo suinteresuotos ne arabų vienybe – svarbiausiu šarifo Huseino tikslu, o tiesiog norėjo gauti užmokestį. Nors tai apsunkino Hidžazo armijos padėtį, Faisalo stiprūs derybiniai įgūdžiai įtikino daugelį genčių vadų ir tai suteikė hašimitams paramą, kurios jiems reikėjo, kad galėtų priešintis turkams.[4]
