팔라노크 또는 동부팔라노크(Eupleres goudotii)는 몽구스를 닮은 희귀종 포유류이다. 마다가스카르 섬의 토착종이고, 마다가스카르식육과에 속하는 육식동물이다.[2] 현존하는 종 중에서 가장 가까운 종 서부팔라노크가 2010년에 발견되지 전까지는 팔라노크속의 유일종이었다.[3] 팔라노크는 여러 특징을 갖고 있다. 항문선 또는 회음선(두번째로 가까운 종 마다가스카르사향고양이와는 달리)을 갖고 있지 않으며, 오그러지지 않는 발톱과 독특한 치열을 지니고 있다.

송곳니와 앞어금니는 뒷쪽으로 휘어져 있고 편평하다. 이는 먹이와 관련이 있는 것으로 추측하고 있으며, 먹이는 주로 벌레와 민달팽이, 달팽이, 유충 등과 같은 무척추동물이다. 주로 마다가스카르 섬 동부 지역의 저지대 우림에서 서식하는 반면에 서부팔라노크는 마다가스카르 섬 북서부 지역에서 발견된다. 홀로 생활하는 육상동물이지만 야행성인지 주행성동물인지는 아직 알려지지 않았다. 몸길이 약 50cm와 꼬리 길이 24cm로 작은 동물이다.
