აგვისტო (ლათ. Augustus; ძვ. სახელები: მარიამობისთვე, ქველთობისა) — გრიგორიანული და იულიანური კალენდრების მერვე თვე. მოქცეულია ივლისსა და სექტემბერს შორის. აგვისტოში 31 დღეა.

ამ თვეს, თავდაპირველად, ლათინურად, სექსტილისი ერქვა, რადგანაც ორიგინალურ რომაულ ათთვიან კალენდარში, რომელიც რომულუსმა შემოიღო ძვ. წ. 753 წელს და რომელშიც წელიწადი მარტში იწყებოდა, მეექვსე ადგილი ეკავა (სექს — ლათინურად „ექვსი“). ძვ. წ. 700 წლისათვის, იგი მერვე თვე გახდა, მას შემდეგ, რაც რომის მეფე ნუმა პომპილიუსმა კალენდარში მარტამდე იანვარი და თებერვალი ჩაამატა. მან, ასევე, თვეს 29 დღე მიაკუთვნა. იულიუს კეისარმა, რომელმაც ძვ. წ. 45 წელს იულიუსის კალენდარი შემოიღო, თვეს 2 დღე დაუმატა, რითაც მან თავისი დღევანდელი სიგრძე, 31 დღე მიიღო. ძვ. წ. 8 წელს მას, ოქტავიანე ავგუსტუსის პატივსაცემად, აგვისტო უწოდეს (ფართოდ გავრცელებული აზრის მიუხედავად, მას ერთი დღე თებერვლისაგან არ აუღია). სენატის გადაწყვეტილების მიხედვით, რომლის ციტირებასაც მაკრობიუსი აკეთებს, საამისოდ ეს თვე იმიტომ შეირჩა, რომ ავგუსტუსის ტრიუმფის უმნიშვნელოვანესი მოვლენები, ეგვიპტის დაპყრობის ჩათვლით, სწორედ ამ თვეს ემთხვეოდა.[1] ქართული წარმართული კალენდრის მიხედვით „ქველთობისა“ ერქვა. შემდეგ აგვისტოს პარალელურად „მარიამობისთვე“ გავრცელდა.

აგვისტო არის ზაფხულის თვე ჩრდილოეთ ნახევარსფეროში და ზამთრისა — სამხრეთ ნახევარსფეროში.

აგვისტოს ზოდიაქოს ნიშნებია ლომი და ქალწული.

აგვისტო იწყება კვირის იმავე დღეს, როგორც თებერვალი მხოლოდ ნაკიან წელს.

ქველთობისა

კორნელი კეკელიძე ქველთობისას 2 ივლისი — 31 ივლისით საზღვრავდა[2].

კ. კეკელიძის აზრით[3] „ქუელთობისაჲ“ (თთუე), სახელობითი ბრუნვა — „ქუელთობა“. მისი მოსაზრებით შეცდომაა სახელწოდება ქუელთობისას პირველი ნაწილის „ქუე“-ს „ქვე“-დ და შესაბამისად მისგან ქველის წარმოება და მასზე აპელირება. პირვანდელი ფორმაა „ქუე“, რომელიც კავშირშია ირანული წარმართული კალენდრის ერთ-ერთ თვესთან „ფარვარდინთან“, რომლის დროსაც იმართებოდა ქვესკნელთა მყოფთა დღესასწაული — „ფრავარტა“.
