長浜町（ながはまちょう）は、愛媛県の南予地方にあった町。

2005年（平成17年）1月11日、大洲市、肱川町、河辺村と合併し、新しい大洲市の一部となった。

地理

肱川河口に位置し、市街地は河口部に集中しているほか、肱川及び伊予灘の海岸線に沿って集落が点在している。平地が乏しいため、埋め立てによって工業団地等を確保している。肱川の舟運によって古くから栄え、かつては上関（山口県）へのフェリー航路も就航していた。

歴史

長浜町の港は、坂本龍馬が沢村惣之丞とともに脱藩した港（1862年3月28日）であり、ここを母港とした大洲藩のいろは丸に乗って出帆し、長州三田尻（防府市）へ向かった。明治時代から、木材を筏に組み河口へと運ぶ筏流しが盛んになり、肱川を下ってきた木材や蝋の集散地・積み替え港として繁栄した。集散地としては、日本の木材の三大集散地の1つに数えられた。

鉄道路線

四国旅客鉄道（JR四国）

  • 予讃線：喜多灘駅 - 伊予長浜駅 - 伊予出石駅 - 伊予白滝駅：通称「海岸回り・海回り」と呼ばれ、内子線経由の新線開業（旧国鉄最後の新線）まではこちらの方が鉄道ではメインルートであったが、内子線経由の新線開業により所要時間で不利なためメインルートでなくなり、普通列車のみの典型的なローカル線となっている。なお、伊予長浜・向井原間はほぼ中央構造線に沿っており、大雨時に土砂崩れが発生しやすく、不通になるケースが度々発生していた。

    • 旅客船あおしま:沖合13.5 kmに浮かぶ青島と長浜を結ぶ唯一の航路。乗船時間約45分。一日2往復。
  • かつては、神戸港まで結ぶカーフェリーも運行されていた。

名所・旧跡・観光スポット・祭事・催事

  • 長浜大橋 - 肱川河口にかかる全国的にも珍しい日本最古の道路開閉橋。1935年（昭和10年）完成。稼働中の物としては唯一。橋の色が赤色であることから、赤橋とも呼ばれている。
  • 坂本龍馬の足跡:赤橋から数十メートル歩いた所、郵便局前に、坂本龍馬・吉村虎太郎が宿泊（龍馬：1862年3月27日宿泊）した富屋金兵衛邸跡がある。
  • 末永家住宅旧主屋 - 末永家住宅旧主屋は、末永家の建物の中でも最も古く、明治17年に建築されたもの。外観に見られる格子付窓・黒漆喰の壁やなまこ壁などは、同時期に建築された内子町の本芳我家住宅（国重要文化財）によく似た印象を与える建物である。
  • 末永家住宅百帖座敷 - 木造平屋建てで、末永家の接客用の建物とされている。18畳二間続きの座敷と５畳の付属室からなり、内部には、手の込んだ折上げ格天井(おりあげ ごうてんじょう)や洋風の照明器具などがみられる。建築年代は、襖絵(ふすまえ)の署名に記された昭和2年（1927年）ごろと考えられている。
  • 肱川あらし - 冬季早朝、大洲盆地で発生した霧が肱川を下り、河口を吹き抜ける現象。白い霧を伴った冷たい強風。年配者を中心に肱川おろしとも言われる（こちらが正式名称との見解もある）が、近年は「肱川あらし」の呼称の方が一般的。
  • 肱川あらし展望公園 - 肱川河口一帯を一望出来る展望台付き公園。冬季の肱川あらしを眺める絶好のポイントである。
  • 瑞龍寺 - 沖浦にある寺院。国の重要文化財に指定されている木造十一面観音立像が安置されており、毎年4月17日の祭りでは一般に公開されている。また、墓地は映画「世界の中心で、愛をさけぶ」のロケ地として使用されている。
  • 住吉神社 - 市街地の東側にある御建山（みたて やま）に鎮座する神社。江戸時代、参勤交代の際に藩主自ら参詣するなど、歴代藩主の信仰を受けた神社である。「鞍馬山中牛若丸図」[2]、「長浜古図」縦147cm、横265cm[3]にもなる大絵馬を所有する。
  • 白滝公園 - 県内屈指の滝と紅葉が見所。毎年11月23日には「るり姫祭り」が催される。
  • 長浜町庁舎 - 長浜の市街地に立地する長浜町庁舎（現・大洲市役所長浜支所）。昭和初期の洋風庁舎建築の特色が強く表れている。
