地理

三鷹市の西部に位置する。 東から時計回りに、三鷹市野崎、調布市深大寺北町、調布市深大寺元町、調布市富士見町、調布市西町、調布市野水、小金井市東町、三鷹市井口、三鷹市深大寺、に隣接する。

昭和30年代から開発された住宅地が多く存在。野川が流れ、市内唯一の田圃も存在するほか、国際基督教大学キャンパス、国立天文台、野川公園などが置かれ、都内では比較的自然が残されている。 名産品としては、わさびや、キウイフルーツなどがある。 起伏がある丘陵地帯である。

交通

地内のどこからも徒歩で最寄駅まで行くのに30分ほど要するために、小田急バスもしくは京王電鉄バスや自家用車が多く利用される。地区内の移動には、2023年冬頃よりデマンド交通の交通実証運行がなされている。また大沢は土地の高低差が激しいため、東八道路以北はJR東日本中央線武蔵小金井駅・武蔵境駅・三鷹駅、東八道路以南は京王線調布駅・西調布駅を利用する事が多い。大沢5丁目の一部や6丁目からは西武多摩川線多磨駅も利用可能である。
