クリス・ホジェッツ

クリス・ホジェッツ（Chris Hodgetts、1950年12月6日 - ）は、英国の元レーシングドライバー。ウォリックシャー州タンワース・イン・アーデン生まれ。日本語ではクリス・ホッジスとも呼ばれる。

イギリスツーリングカー選手権の経歴

ホジェッツが1985年にドライブしたフォード・エスコート。2008年BTCC50周年イベントにて。

彼は1979年にクラブマンクラスAチャンピオンシップでドライバーとしてキャリアをスタートさせた[1]。1980年のイギリスツーリングカー選手権(BTCC)でデビュー。最初の総合表彰台は1981年に2位になったときで、その後は全てのレースで上位5位を一貫している。主に自己資金で自チームを組織しレースに参戦する場合のチームで、トムス社製の車を使用し、レースに参加していた。1983年に年間4位、1984年に5位、1985年に2位まで来た後、1986年と1987年のレースでグループCで望みトヨタ・カローラでシリーズに勝利[2]。1988年のシーズンは目立った成績を残せなかった。グループAで成績を残していたトヨタ・スープラは多くの開発を必要としたため、彼が走行させていた車はほんの一握りの良い結果しか得られなかったからだと考えられる[3]。BTCCでの彼の最後のレースは1990年で、そのシーズンは新しいオペル・ベクトラの開発を手伝い、ボクスホール社製の車でレースにに参加。BTCCでのレースに時間をかける前に、フォード・シエラに切り替えた。1989年のシーズン中に象徴的な赤いフォード・シエラ RS500に切り替え、ブルックリンに向けて運転していた。

イギリスツーリングカー選手権の後

ツーリングカーでのレースに加えて、スポーツカーレースでも成功を収め、1989年にBRDC C2チャンピオンシップを引退前のティム・ハーベイと共有し、1990年にTVRトスカーナ・チャレンジで優勝[1]。1994年シーズンは、ローバー・ターボチャレンジでクリスをドライブ[4]、また時折世界スポーツカー選手権に出場し、マツダスピード、クラージュ・コンペティション、スパイス エンジニアリングなどのチームでル・マン24時間レースに7度参加。特に1989年は現地で食中毒に罹り参加が不可能となった片山義美の代役として、マツダスピードのドライバーに急遽抜擢され、マツダ・767Bをドライブし、総合7位・IMSA-GTPクラス優勝という最高の結果を残す[1]。1995年、マルコス・LM600を運転しイギリスのGT選手権でGT2タイトルを獲得。インターナショナル・スポーツカー・レーシング・シリーズ(ISRS)でローラを運転した後1998年に引退[5]。

現在、レーシングチームとドライバーインストラクターとして従事している。息子のステファンは2004年にBTCCに出場[6]。
