NGC 3090 è una vasta galassia ellittica situata nella costellazione del Sestante, a una distanza di circa 320 milioni di anni luce dalla nostra Via Lattea.[1]
Scoperta
La galassia è stata scoperta il 22 gennaio 1865 dall'astronomo tedesco Albert Marth.[1]
Descrizione
Nelle immagini riprese nel corso dell'indagine astronomica Sloan Digital Sky Survey, nella stessa area di cielo sono visibili anche le galassie NGC 3083, NGC 3086, NGC 3092 e NGC 3093.
