Thought I would ask you a quesdtion about HOW one creates a new category? The reason is that I have FINALLY been able to get lists together on what specific towns in WV belonged to specifc coal fields. Ergo, WHY NOT have a category that states town x, belong to the coalfield Y. The specific coalfield in question is the Winding Gulf Coal Field, BUT there are of course several more coal fields and I thought, WHY NOT do something and help out?Coal town guy (talk) 20:30, 16 July 2012 (UTC)

Ayrshire, IndianaHi-I started the article about Ayrshire, Indiana. Shelby Harris who was from there just died. Many thanks again-RFD (talk) 11:52, 26 July 2012 (UTC) Company Store and Truck SystemHey there, I have a doozy of a style question for you. I am at this time delighted to have created a Coal town article and an approved article on Coal Scrip. BUT, since the archetype structure in a coal town is, The Company store, I was , CONCERNED because, I was redirected to the Truck System. In a coal town, you went to the store, it did evolve into a type of truck system because, there was nothing else for miles around, kind of well remote. I think the current redirect is a total political POV which is a valid discussion but fails to define what the Company store was. It would be fabulos to have that as a part of an article, but I have no wish to revisit grad school and discuss post structuralist socialist arguments that made academics feel great while my family worked to death in a coal camp. SO, in keeping with the neutral POV which I would like, what would be the proper and nice way to say, hey, we will have a new article here and can we have the politics a part of an article the defines what a Company Store was?Coal town guy (talk) 12:19, 26 July 2012 (UTC)

North Dakota NRHP articlesHi, I wanted to say thank you for finding and adding pictures for a number of North Dakota NRHP sites, including one or more edits directly at List of RHPs in ND. And for your starting a number of ND NRHP articles, too. I'm curious if some/all of the pics might be your own, you don't have to say of course. As you've seen, I've started a bunch more ND NRHP articles and have included the pics you linked. If there are any articles which you wanted to start, which I could avoid so that you could, I would be happy to oblige. Otherwise I will likely get the remaining ones started shortly. Thanks, anyhow, for doing what you do! --doncram 20:00, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
USA Superfluous, need some helpHey- Quick question. In all of the articles I am creating in KY and WV, I am noticing a number of edits by a person removing United States as they state Having Hazard County, Kentucky, United States, makes USA Superfluous and then they tell me about a standard. Thats cool, WHAT standard? I have requested the standard or its location and the "reply" is more edits. Personally, I do not mind the edits. However, its piss poor form to transmit an edict and then not bother to give a reference or direction because I need to either "suck it up" or "figure it out". If it were me, I would try as your example has shown as well. SO, in the effort of assuming good faith, do you know where this reference is? MUCH appreciated. My apologies for the churlish nature of the post but I do not mind rules, we need them, its edicts and no reasoning Coal town guy (talk) 13:02, 1 August 2012 (UTC)

Coal Scrip fact and neutrality???Hey- Need your keen eye. As you know I created an artcile on coal scrip. I actually submitted it for approval because the other article on Company Scrip is at best a lecture I heard ibn grad school on post socialist structuralism.....I madeit a sure thing to quote, verbatim, no original research. Now it has no original research and factual citations tags....So, I edited it. It needs to be expanded oh yes, but, what am I missing?? This was done by the same user who created the Ravenswood branch article that was merged into the Brown Line article. Looking at his user page it looks like he's preparing to create two new articles which would really be sub articles of Green Line and Red Line (CTA), neither of which are developed enough to have such pages. I tried explaining to him that we don't create sub pages like that until ready for them, but he either doesn't understand or doesn't care. He also created an article (since speedily deleted) on a fictional Gold Line of his own devising. I ask for your assistance because he seems to be becoming quite irate. Greater Eureka Area issuesHello TheCatalyst31 i heard about this page called the Greater Eureka Area and the Eureka Metropolitan Area, and this guy made bunch of accounts on wikipedia, and this all goes back to somewhere in 2009, he has been making those silly tricks for more than 3 years already, this guy needs to stop, i wonder who is this guy, is he a kid or teenager, or someone under 18, i went through youtube searching for people who got banned from wikipedia, it turns out it was some teenagers, i would think this person is probably a teenager, and i agree with you, this guy needs to stop right now, i live in Eureka so i know how it is, i saw that he vandalized his talk page (as Mike3GO), and this user named Ponyo blocked him with no expiry date, this user needs to stop changing things on wikipedia, and this guy needs to grow up, and i know this person is a male, because i saw other users, and he usually uses this name Alan or Al Villarruel, i would think his name is Alan Villarruel, and this guy is somewhere between 12 and 17 years old, if i knew his parents i would tell his parents to tell him to stop, because this is getting old, very old, do admins have rights to delete accounts of editors of this guy, i would suggest to delete all his accounts, and have him not allowed on wikipedia, or otherwise he can just behave on wikipedia, i agree with you, this guy needs to stop, im not a admin, but you can do something about it, report it to the wikipedia company, or report it to wikipedia officers, like the CEO, Chairman, President, or Founder, because this guy is editing the same old things, and i also been seeing what is the Greater Eureka Area actually and i think it's a urban cluster, which includes Eureka and the surrounding CDPS, such as Myrtletown or Cutten, can i make a page about this urban area, i would like to make the Greater Eureka Area but not as a Metropolitan area, i would like to make the Greater Eureka Area page as a urban cluster, does wikipedia except urban areas on this site. well thank you very much for deleting this guy and if i were a admin, i would do the same thing as you did, and this same guy created a wiki, named Alanpedia, and claims that wikipedia is the worst website, and here is the link [1], and here is a page about all the urban areas in the State of California List of California urban areas and go down to number 59 and it will say about the Greater Eureka Area, and the Greater Eureka Area is a urban area, not a metro area, well thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by GeorgeWells (talk • contribs) 03:05, 4 October 2012 (UTC)

Maple Works (Mapleworks), WisconsinHi-I am looking up information about Mapleworks (Maple Works), Wisconsin which is a ghost town near the village of Granton, Wisconsin in Clark County[2] Orangemike asked me to research this. I would do the article but there is no GNIS. Also there is a book about Wood County, Wisconsin of which I have used and there were mention of lumbering communities like Scranton, Wisconsin, etc. that are no longer in existence. Coalguy and I had talked about Wisconsin's logging/lumbering industry and the fact there were communities that sprung up and then died. You can included lead mining. Any comments?Thanks-RFD (talk) 20:42, 31 October 2012 (UTC)

Sure, its a leper colony and one of the very very few if only populated leper colonies in the US. Now, I am ok with ghost towns. I have lived in some former towns which are worthy of webster/wiki ghost towns, virtually no population, NO post office and certainly a "tour" would be a drunken bet. SO, help me out here.....if you could PLEASE. WHY is thia place in the category of ghost towns in Hawaii???Coal town guy (talk) 13:36, 8 November 2012 (UTC)

Geography quirksYou reminded me of my recent quest of getting a Recluse WY postmark. They were polite, and per my request, provided me with a copy of an article explaining the name origin of recluse. I spoke with their postmaster, turns out that Recluse has a population of zero during certain times in the winter as everyone goes south and warms up. Red Devil AK, went without their PO recently because and I quote the postal record, this was a small town and nobody wanted to be the postmaster...humorous, and yet rather coolCoal town guy (talk) 02:31, 9 November 2012 (UTC) Other Milwaukees in the United StatesHi-Milwaukee, North Carolina, Milwaukee, Pennsylvania, Old Milwaukee East Colonia, Texas, Old Milwaukee West Colonia, Texas, Pasley, Missouri also known as Milwaukee or Millowakee. In case you were wonderingRat Salad isn't the only song article from Paranoid I'm trying to get deleted. We'll see where it goes from there. Since one article is an unsourced stub that can't be expanded (Rat Salad) and the other article is just a flowery biased description (Electric Funeral) both of which prove no notability, I think the editors will take my side. You were right and I was wrongI hate being wrong. I'm used to being the smartest person in the room and it is very humbling for me when I am wrong about something because I'm not athletic, and when it comes to brains or brawn, brains is whats i gots. This doesn't mean that I won't nominate unicorporated townships for Afd ever again, but it does mean that I won't make the assumption that they can't be sourced. If there is one thing I hate more than wasting time, is being the cause of wasted time. (Self Trout) this is particularly frustrating when I can't get autopatrolled rights because I'm shy of my 50 created pages on one hand, while on the other hand I'm accused by some of being a nazi-like deletionist. It doesn't matter how many years I've been editing, it seems that when it comes to Wikipedia you are only as good as your last few edits, agreed? Anyway, I just wanted you to know that I appreciate your efforts, and I think you are a really cool person. Here's a barnstar:

WV County Page questionHey there- On several main WV County pages is a list of communities and then, in the county template, the communities are listed again. HOWEVER, my issue is as follows: In Fayette and Wood Counties, the number of communities (thank you thank you) has grown and listing them on the main county page would be at best, bad formatting.....Do you think it would be OK to indicate that the list if partial, as in Unincorporated Comminities (partial) and then tell them to look in the template below (Partial list, see county box below for full list)????? Please do let me know. As Greenbrier, Kanawha, Raleigh Wood and Fayette would be AT BEST problematic.........OR, should we just remove the freaking list from the County page??Coal town guy (talk) 15:41, 11 January 2013 (UTC)

WV Help!Hey- I have attemp[ted to contact an editor in good faith concerning Beckley, West Virginia and Bradshaw. Specifically, Beckley has a cat of Populated places established in 1838. In 1838, Beckley, was a piece of paper. It was not until some 10+ years later that the place had streets (mud paths) much less permanent settlers in the city proper. Should we have this category there? Bradshw was a total copy of an article, which I removed the copied material after citing the url where they basically, copied the whole freaking page with zero refs..."Jewel" of WV, majestic mountains, friendly people etc etc, uh...NO. At least not in Wiki terms. My contention is WTF is that article, a start?? Should it even be a start. Hell I added the zip code, HOW could you have a start there? Stotesbury politicalI have some pics (good ones, mine, public etc etc) that will explain the political side of St Johns at Stotesbury. LOOOONG ago, in 2002, coal field history folks like myself were the red headed bastard step kids that everyone did not like, ESPECIALLY in small towns that are, to be kind, aesthetically challenged.....St Johns was the black church, all wood multiple stories, look on Flickr, look for a user named whitbywv, you will see. I have a pic of the foundation stone. They let the church go to collapse, preserving it would have been an attraction, because, the church was ...stunning. The white church, also nice, BUT NOT stunning still has services. It is perfectly maintained. It has no graveyard. The church at St Johns, had a cemetery, a black cemetery, rather historic, and NOT well maintained. Many of us, would watch the place. We babysat it and shared notes on Skype, or Yahoo. The collapse was not a surprise. The only thing I will say, in my own encyclopedic fashion is that I took photos inside before the collapse, I did video, and, its, very odd, some things, you just cant explain, that was an odd placeCoal town guy (talk) 15:46, 31 January 2013 (UTC)

Ironically, I so saw my Beckley Centennial medal and posted it to the Beckley page as well. A Wisconsin QuestionI am as they say, rather ignorant of Wisconsin. HOWEVER, do you or RFD have any desire to have the List of Counties in Wisconsin be a FL??? I would be willing with date formats and anything else. I was reading the US County page, its rather close to being a featured category which I thought would be cool. Try not to laugh too hardCoal town guy (talk) 22:14, 20 February 2013 (UTC)
Categorie issues at AfDSorry if I caused more work for you using HotCat to categorize debates. After a few times I caught on that I wasn't doing it right. I looked around at DelSort but didn't see a how to guide for doing it manually so I didn't know where to start out cleaning up my mess. It looks like a tool is necessary to do it more easily, and I will look in to getting one so I can (actually) help out. By fixing my mistakes you helped me figure out how to do it correctly. Again, thanks for fixing my mistakes and helping me do the same!Synchronism (talk) 10:43, 21 February 2013 (UTC)
Something cool and WVHey- Take a look here. Remember when I said that in May something really cool would happen? Funny thing about coal scrip, WV has the largest diversity of its issuers (LOTS OF COAL TOWNS). Anyway, in May, via alot of very cool people, I get to run a scrip machine. An actual, from the day, machine that issued scrip. I believe it is one of 2 actual functioning original machines. I would love to expand the article link I provided and eventually, make it GA. HOWEVER, I would need a WV history person who might find this interesting. I already let Caponer know but he is in a move right now. I thought you might have some input later about how to build the articleCoal town guy (talk) 15:37, 24 February 2013 (UTC)
Bloomfield, Walworth County, WisconsinHi-I just found out that part of the town of Bloomfield, Walworth County, Wisconsin was incorporated as a village in early 2012. Some of the recent information mention that sections of the town of Bloomfield, Walworth County, Wisconsin could be annex to other incorporated areas like Genoa City, Wisconsin. To add to the confusion the village and town are located at the Bloomfield Town Hall. There is a possibilty the town of Bloomfield in Walworth could be dissolved. Also the CDP of Pell Lake, Wisconsin was incorporated into the new village and the Pell Lake Sanitary District was dissolved as a result. Any assistance and help in sorting this would appreciated. I will let User: Rockfang known. Rockfang has help out with Wisconsin articles about sections of Wisconsin town incorporating into villages. Thanks-RFD (talk) 12:47, 26 February 2013 (UTC)

Fin LeavellHello TheCatalyst31! I have been a daily user of Wikipedia for almost a decade now. I haven't started many pages (actually, I can't even remember if I've actually created one before tonight!), but I have tried my best to keep it "clean & correct" around various articles. I've never marked any pages for deletion or questioned the authors for their sources.. as everything I've ever "needed" from Wikipedia I could verify from an outside sources (kudos! for we have an amazing resource here...). Tonight I started the article Fin Leavell who is one of my -and many others - favorite musicians of all time. He has released countless album internationally and is known by quite a large audience. 30 minutes after I saved the page, I got flagged for notability and sources. While I can see how the article could be confusing to someone who didn't have a lot of knowledge on the music scene, I would just like some help trying to fix the article. I can't tell if the person who flagged me is a new user or not? And this is the first time I'm using a talk page - I feel way more comfortable asking you a question since I see a whole bunch of questions below me. Thank you and I appreciate any help that could be given. I also wanted to note that the article isn't 100% completed. I did plan on filling in some juicy details about performances on the Cartoon Network, at the Playboy Mansion, music contributed to the Playboy video game, music contributed to movie and television soundtracks, touring mates, producers connected to him, and additional notability information. I just couldn't do it tonight. Again, I hope you can help. Thank you :) Ilikesealife (talk) aka Melody Letecia

Tornado WV and other trends to look forHey there. I did indeed miss my daily Charleston Mail reading and here is the local article I should have seen regarding Tornado WV. I just scored a copy of "The American counties : origins of county names, dates of creation, and population data, 1950-2000" for rather cheap. I was thinking of updating a "few" county hostories. OF NOTE, the book actually does list original county names, AND their renaming dates when it applies......Rather cool ref to have. However, I bought it used, NO WAY I would buy a new copy. SO, heads up IF there should be a few US counties getting some history added, OR if anyone wants a look up, you will know whyCoal town guy (talk) 13:19, 13 May 2013 (UTC) UpdateEight WV in MCdowell has a GNIS entry of 2747239. Given the maps and other data I provided to them, they were even able to assign geo coordinates as well as an updated elevation. YAAAAAAY!Coal town guy (talk) 13:09, 15 May 2013 (UTC) DwyerHi-Dwyer Junction, Wyoming, Dwyer, Wyoming. There is also Dwyer, Ohio GNIS=1059124 in Montgomery County, Ohio but I think Dwyer, Ohio may be in Dayton, Ohio or in Kettering, Ohio. That would take care of the communities named Dwyer in the US-thank you as always-RFD (talk) 11:59, 16 May 2013 (UTC) Battleship, West VirginiaAs of today, Battleship, West Virginia is a populated place in GNIS..........The entry is accurate and reflects proper geo coordinatesCoal town guy (talk) 01:27, 17 May 2013 (UTC) BossHi-Bosstown, Wisconsin, Boss, Missouri, Boss, Texas-info boxes-thanks-RFD (talk) 11:29, 19 May 2013 (UTC) Disambiguation link notification for May 20Hi. The Sullivan County, New York lists Hortonville as being a CDP. You may want to check that out. Many thanks-RFD (talk) 13:28, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
Take In Hollow WV, now in GNIS!!Having fun with maps, and data and more data .......GNIS says yes, to Take In Hollow as a populated place.!!!!Coal town guy (talk) 00:57, 21 May 2013 (UTC) nv, ne, nm, arHi -- I've noticed your recent new articles and other contributions in NV and NE nrhp articles. Wonder if u noticed that all three of NV, NE, and NM are likely to roll over "articled" thresholds this week (50%, 20%, and 20%). Maybe will happen this week anyhow, but definitely will if my 17 or so current submissions (updating value: 0 articles in Category:Submissions by Doncram ready for review) happen to be accepted already, by you or others. :) Thanks for your help everywhere, including in Saline Cty, AR. cheers, --doncram 14:03, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
I'm noticing your multiple "notifications" hits on George P. Washburn architect (architect of KS courthouses) article...makes it easier to do a bit better of an article, if the architect article has been created, huh? :) That was one where there was edit warring against it, from the moment I started the article. Glad it's serving an intended purpose of serving multiple separate NRHP articles, now, anyhow. --doncram 05:02, 24 May 2013 (UTC) Love history & culture? Just wondering aboutyour commenting out the picture in the Court at 744-756.5 Marengo, Pasadena, CA? How do you know this is the wrong court? The pic File:Court at 744-756½ S. Marengo Ave. 3.JPG seems to show the same buildings with an address of 745 (it might be 743, but I see 745). Just checking. Smallbones(smalltalk) 16:31, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
Hortonville/HortoniaHi-Hortonia, Vermont, Hortonville, Vermont, Hortonville, Massachusetts, Hortonville, New Mexico. Hortonville, Massachusetts is related to the Hortonville Historic District. Also I worked on disambiguation pages for Hortonia and Hortonville. This gives myself a break from working on United States state/territorial legislators. Thanks as always for your help. Basically, I thought that it was a case of someone (1) figuring that the convent complex should get the link because it's named Maryknoll and it's in New York [basically the same idea as how Long Island, New York redirects to Long Island], and (2) not knowing or not caring that there was a real community of the same name somewhere else in the state. Thanks for pointing out my mistake. NRHPPROGRESSThanks for running the script earlier today. I was in a wedding over the weekend, so I was unable to run it. I was actually just getting on now to run the script for the day, but I saw you had already done so. If I may ask, did everything work fine? How long did it take to run? I'm pretty sure you're the only other person besides me to have run it... do you feel like anything needs to be changed? I've pretty much developed it for my own taste without any other input, but I'd like to make it more user-friendly if possible. Just fishing for ideas. Thanks again!--Dudemanfellabra (talk) 18:42, 3 June 2013 (UTC)

I will of course update the Stotesbury article, I will be in fact, totally encyclopedic and not mention this sheer and total waste of what should have been an incredible historic structure. I did film the inside before its collapse, and can if you want provide the youtube linkCoal town guy (talk) 01:29, 5 June 2013 (UTC)

I don't know what bigger pattern u might be working on, but i hope u don't mind my raising the hurdle if u were trying to finish that county. I've raised the hurdle on myself that way before (e.g. Morrill). Anyhow I'll draft something at User:Doncram/Kansas Route 66 Historic District-East Galena now which you could choose to use or not. cheers, --doncram 05:36, 12 June 2013 (UTC)
