Marcus Annius Florianus

Marcus Annius Florianus, yang dikenal dengan nama Florianus, adalah seorang Kaisar Romawi yang memerintah dalam waktu singkat pada tahun 276 M. Ia naik takhta setelah kematian saudaranya, Kaisar Tacitus, namun pemerintahannya berlangsung kurang dari satu tahun sebelum ia meninggal dalam keadaan yang masih diperdebatkan. Florianus dikenal sebagai salah satu kaisar yang memerintah selama periode Krisis Abad Ketiga, di mana Kekaisaran Romawi mengalami ketidakstabilan politik, ekonomi, dan militer yang signifikan.

Kehidupan Awal

Florianus lahir di wilayah yang kemungkinan besar terletak di Italia atau Asia Kecil, meskipun detail mengenai kelahirannya tidak banyak diketahui. Ia adalah saudara tiri atau saudara kandung dari Kaisar Tacitus. Sebelum menjadi kaisar, Florianus dikenal sebagai seorang pejabat militer dan politik yang berpengaruh. Ia memegang posisi penting di pemerintahan selama masa kekuasaan Tacitus, yang kemungkinan membantunya mendapatkan dukungan untuk menjadi penerus setelah kematian saudaranya.

Naik Takhta

Setelah Tacitus meninggal mendadak pada tahun 276 M, Florianus dinyatakan sebagai kaisar oleh pasukan di Barat. Dukungan militer dan administratif yang kuat di wilayah barat Kekaisaran, terutama di Roma dan Italia, memungkinkan Florianus untuk segera mengonsolidasikan kekuasaannya. Namun, posisinya segera ditantang oleh Probus, seorang jenderal yang populer di kalangan pasukan di Timur.

Pemerintahan

Pemerintahan Florianus berlangsung kurang dari tiga bulan dan ditandai oleh ketegangan militer dan politik. Ia menghadapi ancaman besar dari Probus, yang juga diproklamirkan sebagai kaisar oleh pasukannya. Florianus berusaha untuk mengatasi ancaman ini dengan memobilisasi tentaranya untuk menghadapi pasukan Probus di Asia Kecil. Namun, konflik ini semakin memperparah perpecahan dalam kekaisaran.

Selain itu, Florianus harus menghadapi ketidakpuasan di antara tentaranya sendiri. Banyak dari tentaranya adalah pasukan dari wilayah Barat yang tidak terbiasa dengan iklim panas di Asia Kecil, yang menyebabkan penurunan moral dan meletusnya wabah penyakit di kalangan pasukan.

Kematian

Florianus meninggal pada tahun 276 M di Tarsus, Asia Kecil. Ada dua versi utama mengenai penyebab kematiannya. Menurut beberapa sumber, ia dibunuh oleh pasukannya sendiri yang memberontak karena tidak puas dengan kepemimpinannya dan kondisi kampanye militer. Sumber lain menyatakan bahwa Florianus mungkin bunuh diri setelah menyadari bahwa posisinya tidak dapat dipertahankan. Kematian Florianus mengakhiri perselisihan singkat antara dirinya dan Probus, yang kemudian menjadi kaisar tunggal Kekaisaran Romawi.
