פנקס שירות הוא אוטוביוגרפיה וספר זיכרונות של יצחק רבין שפורסם ב-1979, ושאותו כתב רבין יחד עם העיתונאי דב גולדשטיין. הספר עורר מספר שערוריות בזמנו, בשל השפה הבוטה השגורה בו כלפי דמויות שונות מן הצמרת הפוליטית באותה עת, ובעיקר עקב כינויו של שמעון פרס, מתחרהו של רבין על צמרת המערך, "חתרן בלתי נלאה", כינוי שדבק בזה האחרון. הספר פורסם בשני כרכים[1].

רקע

הספר נכתב בשנים 1978 - 1979 כאשר רבין היה חבר כנסת באופוזיציה, לאחר הקדנציה הראשונה שלו כראש הממשלה. הספר נכתב בשיתוף עם כתב העיתון מעריב, דב גולדשטיין, ויצא לאור בהוצאת ספרית מעריב. הספר פורסם תחילה באנגלית בשם - The Rabin Memoirs, ואילו פרקים ממנו בעברית פורסמו במהלך אוגוסט 1979 בעיתון מעריב[2][3]. גולדשטיין מסר בין השאר את טיוטת הספר לכתב לענייני מפלגות של הטלוויזיה הישראלית ניסים משעל, כחלק ממהלך של קידום מכירות. משעל פרסם מידע ממנו, עוד טרם פרסומו, מידע שהביא לסערה תקשורתית[4]. הספר פורסם בעברית בתחילת ספטמבר 1979[5]. ב-10 בספטמבר 1979 ערך רבין מסיבת עיתונאים לרגל השקת הספר, ובה חזר על דברים שפרסם בספר, בין השאר שלא ישמש כשר בממשלה בראשות שמעון פרס[6].

תוכן הספר

בספר סוקר רבין את תחנות חייו עד זמן כתיבתו, כולל ילדותו, הלחימה במסגרת הפלמ"ח, הקריירה הצבאית שלו, כהונתו כשגריר בארצות הברית וכראש ממשלת ישראל. בין היתר, כתב רבין על פרשיות מעוררות מחלוקת: גירוש הערבים במהלך מלחמת העצמאות, הטבעת אלטלנה ועוד. אחד הפרקים בספר, על גירוש ערבים במלחמת העצמאות, אף צונזר[7]. עם זאת, את מרבית תשומת הלב של התקשורת משכו דעותיו לגבי שותפו להנהגת מפלגת העבודה - שמעון פרס. רבין קבע כי פרס "פסול מלשמש כראש הממשלה". העיתונאי ניסים משעל חשף את המידע מתוך קריאת טיוטת הספר, ערב פרסומו. במיוחד זעם רבין על ההדלפות של אנשי פרס לעיתונות בתקופת שלטונו הראשונה כראש הממשלה. פרס עצמו התייחס לספר כאל "טעות דפוס בפוליטיקה הישראלית"[8].

לטענת מבקריו של רבין קיימים בו אי-דיוקים. ההיסטוריון מיכאל בר-זוהר, שנחשב לתומכו של פרס, טען כי "בפרקים בהם [רבין] מדבר על מבצע אנטבה, הוא פשוט כתב דברים שלא תואמים את האמת"[9]. עם זאת, הספר נכתב באווירת התקופה ומנקודת מבטו האישית של יצחק רבין, ומכאן ייחודו.

בספר רבין גם כתב ביקורת קשה על אנשי תנועת גוש אמונים, שביצעו מספר "מבצעי התנחלות" בלתי חוקיים ביהודה ושומרון, במהלך כהונתו כראש הממשלה. דוגמת ניסיונות ההתנחלות במבנה תחנת הרכבת מסעודיה הנטוש בשומרון[10]. רבין כתב:

"נגד תפישתם הבסיסית, הנוגדת את בסיסה הדמוקרטי של ישראל, היה הכרח להיאבק מאבק אידיאי החושף את המשמעות האמיתית של עמדות הגוש ודרכי פעולתו [...] מעטים המקרים בתולדות היהדות, שחבורה פרועה שכזאת נוטלת לעצמה מנדט בשם שמים. [...] נחרדתי כאשר 'הוגה דעות' פרסם מאמר ובו טען שגורלו של קיסינג'ר צריך להיות כגורלו של הרוזן ברנאדוט, המתווך מטעם האו"ם שנרצח בישראל במלחמת העצמאות.
