נחמן מייזל (ביידיש נכתב לרוב: מייזיל; 16 ביוני 1887, קייב – 28 באפריל 1966, קיבוץ אלונים) היה עורך ומבקר ספרות יידי.

ביוגרפיה

מייזל נולד בבית כפרי ליד העיר קייב שבדרום-מערב רוסיה (אוקראינה) במשפחה יהודית אדוקה ואמידה, בנם של שרה חנה ור' ישראל, ואחיה הגדול של גיטל מייזל (לימים מבקרת ספרות). קיבל חינוך ביתי עד גיל 17 אצל מלמדים. נישא לחינה, בתו של הרב שלמה הכהן אהרונסון, רבה הראשון של תל אביב יפו.

ב-1905 פרסם את חיבורו הראשון בעברית, לאחר מכן במשך מספר שנים פרסם ביקורות ספרות בכתבי עת ועיתונים עבריים. הוא שקל לעלות לארץ ישראל ולעסוק בחקלאות[1]. ב-1909 הוא החל לכתוב ביקורות על ספרות יידיש; הביקורת הראשונה הייתה על חיבור של דוד ברגלסון.[2] בין 1912–1914 ניהל את הוצאת הספרים "קונסט פארלאג" בקייב, ובמקביל היה עורכו של כתב העת הספרותי "די יידישע וועלט" ('העולם היהודי/היידי'). אחרי מלחמת העולם הראשונה ייסד הוצאה לאור בקייב והיה ממייסדי קולטור-ליגע, אגודת תרבות ביידיש. היה מעורכי "ביכער וועלט" ('עולם הספרים') בין השנים 1919–1920.

עם נפילת הרפובליקה העממית של אוקראינה עבר לוורשה בירת פולין, ושם ב-1921 חידש את פעילותה של קולטור-ליגע. בין השנים 1925–1938 הוא היה חבר מערכת ועורך כתב העת הספרותי "ליטערארישע בלעטער". ב-1934 פרסם ספר על חיים נחמן ביאליק, "ביאליק (זיין לעבן און שאפן)", בהוצאת פארלאג גראשן-ביבלאטעק, ווארשע.[3]. ב-1936 ביקר בארץ ישראל, ואת חוויותיו פרסם בספר "טעג און נעכט אין עמק" ('ימים ולילות בעמק [יזרעאל]'; 1937).

בדצמבר 1937 היגר לארצות הברית, שם היה מזכיר וחבר הנהלת יידישער קולטור-פארבאנד והיה עורך ירחון "יידישע קולטור".

ב-1964 עלה לישראל והתיישב בקיבוץ אלונים, קרוב לבני משפחתו, שם נפטר ב-1966, בגיל 79, והובא למנוחות. בנו, דב מיזל, היה ממייסדי הקיבוץ.
