כרית כף הרגל היא החלק של סוליית כף הרגל הנמצאת בין האצבעות לבין הקשת, מתחת לראשי עצמות המסרק.[1] כרית כף הרגל קרויה כך על שם הרכות שלה, המזכירה כרית. בשל הצורה המעוגלת והכדורית של כרית כף הרגל, בכמה שפות היא נקראת "כדור כף הרגל".

מטטרסלגיה

עיסוי עמוק משחרר את הרקמות ועוזר להעלים את הכאב.

כרית כף הרגל היא אזור שבו לעיתים קרובות לאנשים מתפתח כאב המכונה "מטטרסלגיה" (אנ')[2] - על שם האזור בכף הרגל שבו נמצאת הכרית, הקרוי בלעז "מטטרסל" (עצמות המסרק). בדרך כלל, באם הבעיה איננה גנטית, כאב זה נגרם עקב לחץ רב המופעל על חלק זה של כף הרגל, ולפעמים בשפה לא מקצועית הוא מכונה "רגל בוערת", בשל התחושה השורפת המורגשת בכאב זה.[3] לעיתים קרובות לנשים אשר נועלות נעלי עקבים, מתפתחים כאבים בכריות כפות רגליהן, בשל כמות גדולה של לחץ המופעל עליהן במשך זמן ממושך של עמידה והליכה בתנוחה שבה העקבים מוגבהים, וכל הגוף נשען על חלק זה בלבד.[2]

כדי להתמודד עם מצב זה, בחנויות נעליים ובמכוני אורתופדיה ושאר מכוני כף הרגל נמכרים מדרסים מיוחדים או כריות סיליקון שנועדו להיכנס לתוך הנעל ולרפד את האזור על מנת להקל על חלק מהלחץ. לחלופין, לעיתים אנשים ניגשים לרופא המבצע הליך שבו הוא מזריק קורטיזון לתוך הכריות של כפות הרגליים כדי להוסיף רכות לאזור, המקלה על הלחץ.[4]

בין הדרכים להקל על הכאב לאחר אבחון הבעיה, ניתן לבצע פיזיותרפיה מיוחדת לאזור עם עיסוי עמוק המשחרר את הרקמה הרכה סביב העצב, גירוי חשמלי שמפחית את הנפיחות סביב העצב ומפיג את הכאב, וכן טיפול המזריק חומר אלחוש למקום.[3]

אחת המחלות הידועות כף הרגל היא מחלת פרייברג הנגרמת כתוצאה מהפרעה באספקת הדם לרקמה (נמק אווסקולרי) בעצמות המסרק בכף הרגל. המחלה מתאפיינת בכאבים, נפיחות ונוקשות בקדמת כף הרגל (בגב כף הרגל ותחתית) עד לחוסר יכולת לדרוך על כף הרגל.
