אלה בִּין (נולדה ב-1963) היא ד"ר לפיזיותרפיה ומומחית בתחום טיפול ושיקום ילדים עם בעיות התפתחות. פרופסור חבר בקריה האקדמית אונו[1] בפקולטה למקצועות הבריאות. היא מכהנת כראש החוג לספורטתרפיה[2] במכללה. מחקריה[3] עוסקים בעיקר בנושאי אבולוציה[4] של עמידה זקופה והליכה על שתיים ובקשר שבין מנח עמוד השדרה להתפתחות של כאבי גב וצוואר.

ביוגרפיה

בין סיימה בשנת 1990 בהצטיינות יתרה את לימודיה בחוג לפיזיותרפיה באוניברסיטת תל אביב. בשנת 2006 סיימה את לימודי הדוקטורט, בחוג לאנטומיה ואנתרופולוגיה בפקולטה לרפואה ע"ש סאקלר באוניברסיטת תל אביב. עבודת הדוקטורט שלה עסקה באנטומיה של עמוד השדרה המותני של הומו ניאנדרטלנסיס והשלכותיה הפילוגנטיות והתפקודיות[5], בשנת 2009 המשיכה את לימודי הפוסט-דוקטורט באוניברסיטת בן-גוריון בנגב.

קריירה אקדמית

בין החלה את דרכה האקדמית בשנת 1995, בחוג לפיזיותרפיה באוניברסיטת תל אביב. בשנת 2007 הצטרפה לסגל ההוראה של החוג לאנטומיה ואנתרופולוגיה בפקולטה לרפואה על שם סאקלר, ובשנים 2011–2013 שימשה כסגנית ראש החוג לפיזיותרפיה במכללה האקדמית צפת.

הצטרפה לסגל מקצועות הבריאות בקריה האקדמית אונו בשנת 2014. בשנת 2021 מונתה לפרופסור חבר.

כיום (2021) היא מכהנת כראש החוג לספורטתרפיה, בפקולטה למקצועות הבריאות בקריה האקדמית אונו[2][6], וכמורה מן החוץ בחוג לאנטומיה ואנתרופולוגיה באוניברסיטת תל אביב[7].

בין עוסקת במחקר אינטרדיסציפלינרי המשלב ידע קליני כפיזיותרפיסטית עם ידע אנטומי והבנה באבולוציית האדם, במטרה לשחזר את העמידה וההליכה הזקופה[8][9] של האדם הקדמון. לעבודותיה יישומים קליניים רבים ויש בהן גם עניין מדעי בסיסי. בין עוסקת בין היתר בשחזור עמוד השדרה ובית החזה של שרידי האדם הקדמון, כדוגמת שיחזור של האדם הניאנדרטלי (Homo neanderthalensis) בן כ-60 אלף שנה, שנמצא במערת כבארה בכרמל[10]. במחקריה מצאה כי קיימת שונות מורפולוגית ופונקציונלית בעמידה הזקופה ובהליכה בין מיני אדם שונים.

בין חוקרת את הקשר שבין מבנה ומנח עמוד השדרה לבין התפתחות של פתולוגיות גביות וכאבי גב וצוואר. מחקריה מוסיפים להבנה של הקשר ושיווי המשקל המתקיים בין מבנה האגן, עקומות עמוד השדרה ומנח הראש והצוואר. בשנת 2003 זכתה במלגת דן דוד[11] לסטודנטים, פרס על מצוינות ותרומתה לאנושות במדעי הטבע.

במחקר[12], מצאה בין ראיות כי האדם הניאנדרטלי בלבנט התגורר גם בשטח הפתוח ולא רק במערות, בעקבות חפירת הצלה שנערכה בעין קשיש[13]. הדבר מצביע על כך שאוכלוסיית הניאנדרטלים באזור הייתה במצב איתן לפני הגעת אוכלוסיית ההומו סאפיינס.

הייתה מעורבת במחקר שזיהה את עצם האדם הקדומה ביותר שנמצאה בארץ ישראל (והשנייה בקדמותה מחוץ לאפריקה). העצם נמצאה בשנות ה-60 של המאה העשרים באתר תל עובדיה וזוהתה רק בשנת 2022 על ידי צוות שבין שותפה לו כחוליה של אדם קדום שחי לפני כמיליון וחצי שנים.[14]

בין הוציאה ספר בנושא: Morphology, Function, and Pathology of the Spine in Hominoid Evolution[15].
