אירית בן-אהרון (נולדה ב-22 ביולי 1975) היא אונקולוגית ישראלית, מנהלת המרכז האונקולוגי על שם יוסף פישמן בבית החולים רמב"ם. בן-אהרון היא פרופסור מן המניין בפקולטה לרפואה בטכניון, באונקולוגיה המתמחה בממאירויות מערכת העיכול.

ביוגרפיה

בן-אהרון בוגרת אוניברסיטת תל אביב במסלול MD PHD, בתוכנית ייחודית ללימודי דוקטורט משולבים באוניברסיטת תל אביב והמכונים הלאומיים לבריאות (NIH) של ארצות הברית והשלימה לימודי דוקטורט באונירבסיטת תל אביב בביולוגיה התפתחותית ופוריות בהנחיית פרופסור רות שלגי ופרופסור מיטשל אדי.[1]

את ההתמחות באונקולוגיה ביצעה במרכז דוידוף, בבית חולים בילינסון. בן-אהרון הייתה חלק מ"תוכנית הכוכבים" של שירותי בריאות כללית והייתה עמיתת מחקר במכון דנה-פרבר לסרטן בבוסטון, ארצות הברית שם התמחתה באונקופוריות.

לאחר מכן עשתה התמחות על במרכז הסרטן ממוריאל סלואן קטרינג בניו יורק, ארצות הברית כעמיתת תוכנית פולברייט בתחום ממאירויות מערכת העיכול וביולוגיה של סרטן בצעירים. עם שובה לארץ מונתה לנהל את תחום ממאירויות מערכת העיכול במרכז דוידוף (2016–2018) והייתה פרופסור חבר באוניברסיטת תל אביב, וחוקרת את תחום הסרטן בצעירים.[2]

ב-2018 מונתה למנהלת האגף האגף האונקולוגי על שם יוסף פישמן בבית החולים רמב"ם.[3]

ב-2023 מונתה לעורכת הראשית של ESMO Gastrointestinal Oncology, כתב עת של האיגוד האירופי לאונקולוגיה קלינית, הכולל יותר מ-25 אלף רופאים מומחים באונקולוגיה מכ-160 מדינות.[4]

בן-אהרון חברה ברשת 8400, ומקדמת פרויקטים לאומיים בתחום רופאים-חוקרים.

בן-אהרון, נשואה לאפי, אם ל-3, מתגוררת בהוד השרון.

מחקריה

בן-אהרון רופאה-חוקרת ומובילה מחקרים רבים בתחום סרטן בצעירים וחקר מגנוני רעילות של הטיפולים. ב-2017 מונתה ראש כח המשימה לסרטן בצעירים בקבוצת ממאירויות מערכת העיכול של ארגון EORTC האירופאי לחקר הסרטן. היא פעילה מאד באיגוד האונקולוגי האירופאי (ESMO) בתחום ממאירויות מערכת העיכול וסרטן בצעירים. היא מקדמת מאד את תחום הטיפול בצעירים חולי סרטן והתכנית החלוצה בתחום נפתחה ברמב"ם ב-2019. בנוסף היא חברה באיגוד הישראלי לאונקולוגיה קלינית ורדיותרפיה, חברה באיגוד האמריקאי לאונקולוגיה קלינית (ASCO), חברה באיגוד האמריקאי לחקר הסרטן (AACR).

פרופ' בן-אהרון מובילה מחקר תרגומי, העוסק בהשפעות הטיפולים הכימותרפיים והביולוגיים על כלי דם ופוריות, ועוקבת אחר התופעות בחולי סרטן צעירים. כמו כן, במעבדתה בטכניון נלמדות בהשפעות טיפולים כימותרפיים בהריון על השליה והעובר. בן-אהרון חוקרת ראשית במחקרים אודות סרטן מערכת העיכול בצעירים, שנמצא בעולם במגמת עלייה בעשור האחרון, ומחקריה נעשים בשיתופי פעולה עם חוקרים במרכזי סרטן מובילים בעולם.[5][6]

בן-אהרון פרסמה למעלה מ-100 מאמרים וזכתה למענקי מחקר בינלאומיים תחרותיים רבים.[7]
