Goodnight and Go הוא סינגל שהוקלט על ידי הזמרת-יוצרת הבריטית אימוג'ן היפ, מתוך אלבום האולפן השני שלה, Speak for Yourself. השיר יצא לאור ב-25 באפריל 2006, כסינגל השני מתוך האלבום, על ידי חברות התקליטים מגפוניק, RCA ויקטור וסוני BMG.

יציאה לאור

היפ הכינה רמיקס ל"Goodnight and Go" עבור השמעה ברדיו שכלל אלמנטים מהופעותיה החיות של השיר וקראה לו בשם 'Immi's Radio Mix', שמתלווה ליציאה לאור של "Speeding Cars", סינגל חדש שלה.

הקליפ, שכלול בתקליטור, הפך ללהיט ב-MTV וב-VH1 UK בתחילת אפריל, ומאוחר יותר באותו החודש התווסף גם לערוצי טלוויזיה אחרים. הסינגל הגיע למקום 56 ב-75 הסינגלים המובילים במצעד הסינגלים הבריטי. גרסה מיוחדת של הקליפ יצאה לאור בסוף אפריל לשוק האמריקאי.

ב-11 ביוני 2007 הוצגה התכונה "Goodnight and Go" בדמואים חדשים של Mac OS X Leopard.

השיר נכלל בעונה השנייה של Made in Chelsea שעלתה לאוויר ב-14 בנובמבר 2011.

נכון לשנת 2009, 159,000 עותקים של השיר נמכרו בארצות הברית.[1]

ב-17 באוגוסט 2018 הוציאה אריאנה גרנדה גרסת כיסוי לשיר, כחלק מאלבום האולפן הרביעי שלה, Sweetener, על ידי חברת התקליטים ריפבליק רקורדס. בגרסה של גרנדה נעשה שימוש בדגימה מן השיר המקורי כחלק מההסדר המקורי אך עם שילוב הרמוניות נוספות ובמבני שיר שונים, עם בית נוסף שכתבה גרנדה. את השיר כתבה גרנדה יחד עם ויקטוריה מונה, וכן עם מפיקיו, טומי בראון, צ'ארלס אנדרסון ומייקל פוסטר. במונחים של מוזיקה, "Goodnight n Go" הוא שיר EDM ופיוצ'ר באס שמכיל אלמנטים של טראפ ודיפ האוס.

רקע ויציאה לאור

טומי בראון, צ'ארלס אנדרסון ומייקל פוסטר הפיקו את השיר. הוא הוקלט בגלנווד פלייס בברבנק, יחד עם ג'רמי לרטולה, טכנאי ההקלטה.[6] סרבן ג'ניאה היה המיקסר, וג'ון היינס היה עוזר מיקסר. בגרסה של גרנדה נעשה שימוש בדגימה מן השיר המקורי כחלק מההסדר המקורי, תוך כדי יצירת הרמוניה מחדש (reharmonizing) וסידור מחדש של מבנה השיר. מילות הפזמון והגשר מהשיר המקורי נשמרו, יחד עם בית נוסף שכתבה גרנדה.[7]

"Goodnight n Go" הוא שיר EDM ופיוצ'ר באס,[2][3] שמכיל אלמנטים של טראפ ודיפ האוס.[8] אורכו 3 דקות ו-9 שניות.[9] לפי דפי התווים המפורסמים באתר Musicnotes.com על ידי יוניברסל מיזיק פאבלישינג גרופ, השיר מולחן בסולם D♭ מז'ור עם מפעם של 111 פעימות בדקה. המנעד הקולי של גרנדה נע בין F♯3 ל-Gb5.[10]

תגובה

היפ הגיבה בצורה חיובית לגרסת הכיסוי/רמיקס, כינתה אותה "מתנה" ואמרה שהיא "אהבה את הבית החצוף שהיא [גרנדה] הכניסה לשם וסובבה אותו לקראת הסוף. מה יש לא לאהוב?"[11]

הופעות

גרנדה הופיעה לראשונה עם השיר בסיבוב ההופעות The Sweetener Sessions (אנ'). מאוחר יותר היא ביצעה אותו בסיבוב ההופעות שלה Sweetener World Tour (אנ') בכל המועדים מ-18 במרץ ל-11 במאי 2019 עד שהוחלף ב-Get Well Soon. את השיר היא ביצעה גם במהלך הלילה הראשון של הופעתה בקואצ'לה ב-14 באפריל 2019.
