קייטאנו ריפול (1778, כנראה סולסונה –  26 ביולי 1826, ולנסיה) היה מנהל בית ספר בוולנסיה, ספרד, והיה הקורבן האחרון של האוטו דה פה - האחרון שהוצא להורג על ידי הכנסייה הקתולית בשל הפצת רעיונות הדאיזם.[1][2]

חייו

ריפול היה חייל בצבא ספרד במהלך מלחמת חצי האי (1807-1814). הוא נתפס על ידי כוחות צרפת והיה שבוי מלחמה. בזמן שהוחזק בצרפת נחשף לדאיזם והפך לדאיסט בעצמו.[3]

בשובו לספרד, הוא ניצל את תפקידו כמנהל בית ספר ללמד על דאיזם. במהרה הואשם על ידי האינקוויזיציה הספרדית, נעצר באשמת כפירה, והוחזק בכלא קרוב לשנתיים עד הוצאתו להורג.

האשמות הכנסייה

יושב ראש הבישופות של ולנסיה, האינקוויזיטור מיגל טורנזו, שלח דו"ח  לארכיבישוף של ולנסיה בוותיקן שריפול לא מאמין בישו, בשילוש הקדוש, באינקרנציה, ועוד. ריפול לא מילא חובות נוצריות כגון חג הפסחא, ולא עודד את ילדי בית הספר לדקלם את אווה מריה או להצטלב.

המשפט

בעוון האשמות אלו אנשי האינקוויזיציה הספרדית דרשו שריפול יורשע ויעלה על המוקד . עם זאת, מאחר שביצוע גזר הדין הוטל מסורתית על הנציגות האזרחית החילונית של המלוכה, בחרה זו לתלות אותו במקום העלאה על המוקד.

על פי הסיפור אך ללא מקור מבוסס, שלטונות הכנסייה לא אהבו את העונש ולכן הניחו את גופתו של ריפול בחבית, העלו אותה באש וקברו את השרידים באדמה מחוץ לבית קברות. דיווחים אחרים גרסו כי האפר נזרק לנהר.

מילותיו המפורסמות האחרונות של ריפול היו :"אני מת בהשלימי עם אלוהים ואדם."[4]
