מלך האריות (באנגלית: The Lion King) היא טרילוגיית סרטים מונפשת אמריקאית מבית היוצר של חברת וולט דיסני שזכתה להצלחה בינלאומית מסחררת. בעקבות ההצלחה המסחרית של הסרט הראשון בסדרה, מלך האריות, משנת 1994 הופקו שני סרטי המשך, סדרת ספין אוף בטלוויזיה, מחזמרים, משחקי וידאו, מרצ'נדייז ופרטי אספנות אחרים.

בשנת 2019 נוצר גם סרט לייב אקשן המהווה עיבוד מחדש לסרט המקורי מ-1994.

סרטי הסדרה

הצלחה

"מלך האריות" גרף הכנסות של כ-783 מיליון דולר, מה שהפך אותו לסרט המצליח ביותר באותה השנה וסרט האנימציה המצליח ביותר באותה תקופה. שיא זה נשבר ב-2003 עם יציאתו של סרט האנימציה הממוחשבת "מוצאים את נמו", של חברת פיקסאר שהכניס כ-867,893,978 מיליון דולר. כיום, "מלך האריות" עדיין נחשב לסרט האנימציה המסורתית (אנימציה שאינה ממוחשבת) המצליח ביותר בכל הזמנים.[9][10]

הסרט קיבל מועמדויות רבות לפרסים רבים. בין היתר, הוא זכה בפרס אוסקר לתכליל הטוב ביותר,[11] פרס גלובוס הזהב לסרט הקומי או המוזיקלי הטוב ביותר,[12] ופרס אנני לסרט האנימציה הטוב ביותר.[13] השיר "אהבה יש באוויר" (במקור: Can You Feel the Love Tonight; התוכלי להרגיש את האהבה הלילה) זכה בפרס האוסקר לשיר המקורי הטוב ביותר, פרס גלובוס הזהב לשיר המקורי הטוב ביותר, פרס שידור המוזיקה המאוחד ופרס גראמי לביצוע הווקאלי הטוב ביותר.

"מלך האריות 2", שיצא ישירות לווידאו, מכר 3.5 מיליון עותקים בשלושת הימים הראשונים לצאתו. סך הכל הוא מכר כ-13 מיליון עותקים, במהלך ההפצה הראשונית בשלהי שנות ה-90.[14] שני סרטי ההמשך זכו בפרס אנני לסרט האנימציה הטוב ביותר בהפקת בידור ביתי והסרט השלישי זכה בחמישה פרסי DVD Exclusive Awards. המחזמר המבוסס על סדרת הסרטים זכה בשישה פרסי טוני, כולל פרס המחזמר הטוב ביותר.[15][16]
