ולדימיר ניקיטוביץ' שבצ'נקו (23 בדצמבר 1929 — 30 במרץ 1987) היה במאי קולנוע סובייטי-אוקראיני. איש אמנות מוערך, קיבל לאחר מותו את פרס ברית המועצות (1988), פרס אוקראינה הסובייטית (1978) ופרס ניקה (1989).

ולדימיר שבצ'נקו נולד ב-23 בדצמבר 1929 בעיר באלטה (כיום מחוז אודסה, אוקראינה).

בשנת 1967 סיים את לימודיו במחלקת הצילום של VGIK. לאחר התאונה בתחנת הכוח הגרעינית בצ'רנוביל, כבמאי ותסריטאי, במוקד האסון, הוא צילם סרט תיעודי-פובליציסטי ייחודי "צ'רנוביל. כרוניקה של שבועות קשים", שזכתה במספר פרסים גבוהים.

ולדימיר שבצ'נקו מת ב-30 במרץ 1987 בקייב ממחלות קרינה והרעלה כימית קשה, שהתקבל כתוצאה משהותו בתחנת הכוח הגרעינית בצ'רנוביל.[1]

  • שבצ'נקו הוכרז כאזרח כבוד בעיר קייב ובמספר ערים במדינה יש אנדרטאות לזכרו.
  • אסטרואיד החגורה הראשי 6684 וולודשבצ'נקו נקרא לכבודו. נתגלה ב-19 באוגוסט 1977 על ידי האסטרונום ניקולאי צ'רניך.[2]
