Helike (lúa)

Helike (en grego antigo Ελίκη), ou Xúpiter XLV, é un satélite irregular retrógrado de Xúpiter. Foi descuberto por un equipo de astrónomos da Universidade de Hawai dirixidos por Scott S. Sheppard no 2003, e déuselle a designación provisional de S/2003 J 6.[1][2][3]

Helike ten uns 4 quilómetros de diámetro, e orbita Xúpiter a unha distancia media de 20,540 millóns de kms, tarda en facer unha órbita 601,402 días, ten unha inclinación de 155° con respecto á eclíptica (156° ao ecuador de Xúpiter), e posúe unha excentricidade de 0,1375.

Foi bautizado en marzo de 2005 como Helike, unha das ninfas que coidaron de Zeus (Xúpiter) durante a súa infancia, que a pasou na illa de Creta.[4]

Helike pertence ó grupo de satélites Ananke, un grupo de lúas retrógradas irregulares que orbitan ó redor de Xúpiter a unha distancia media de entre 19,3 e 22,7 millóns de km, con inclinacións duns 150°
