Complexo de Mesías

O complexo de Mesías é un estado psicolóxico no cal o individuo cre ser ou estar destinado a ser un salvador espiritual nalgún campo de actuación específico, grupo, evento, ou ao redor dunha determinada situación, ou incluso para toda a humanidade ou tódalas formas de vida. Tende a estar baseado en ideas relixiosas[1].

Aqueles que sofren este complexo de Mesías cren alcanzar a súa propia gloria e teñen absoluta confianza nas súas capacidades e no su propio destino, así como nos efectos que a súa participación tería sobre un grupo de persoas ou aspectos do mundo. Nalgúns casos, o complexo de Mesías podería estar asociado á esquizofrenia, enfermidade que provoca que a persoa escoite voces, e teña alucinacións que polas que cre que viu e/ou falou con Deus, cos espíritos, cos anxos, meigas ou diabos, e/ou con outras persoas xa falecidas ou ausentes, que confirman para o afectado a súa posición de "mesías".

Nos casos máis graves, o afectado pode verse como a propia encarnación dun deus, ou como un mesías relixioso-espiritual con importantes poderes e predestinado a salvar á humanidade, aos seres vivos ou a outorgar vida eterna a un grupo de elixidos. Pode estar acompañados co sindrome de Xerusalen[2].
