Santa Marta de Castroncán é unha parroquia do concello de Samos na comarca de Sarria, na provincia de Lugo. No ano 2007 tiña 80 habitantes, deles 43 eran homes e 37 eran mulleres, o que supón unha diminución de 4 habitantes en relación ao ano anterior, 2006.

Historia

No Diccionario geográfico-estadístico-histórico de España y sus posesiones de Ultramar de Pascual Madoz, indícase[2]:

CASTRONCÁN (STA. MARTA DE): freg. na prov. e dioc. de Lugo (62 leg.), part. xud. de Sarria (1 1/4) e conc. de Samos (1/2): SIT. en terreo elevado e pendente ao N. e L. con boa ventilación e CLIMA frío e húmido: as enfermidades máis comúns son pulmonías e febres: comprende os l. de Castroncán, Sta. Marta, Vilachá de Abaixo e Vilachá de Arriba[3] que reúnen 29 CASAS de poucas comodidades. A igr. parr. (Sta. Marta), es matriz de Sta. María de Suñide;[4] o curato de entrada e padroado real e ecl. O TERM. confina polo N. con Santo Estevo de Reiriz;[5] polo L. con Santalla de Pascais,[6] interposto o r. Sarria; polo S. con Santiago de Formigueiros,[7] e polo O. co indicado anexo e San Xulián de Teibilide:[8] ten unha fonte de boa auga e pozos. O TERREO é de mediana calidade e encóntrase cuberto de arboredo especialmente ao L. e N. Os CAMIÑOS que pon en comunicación coas freg. de Sarria, Samos e val de Lemos, son polo xeral estreitos e mal coidados e o CORREO recíbese da carteiría de Samos, dependente da estafeta de Sarria. PROD.: centeo, patacas, maínzo, liño, nabos, castañas e pouca froita; cría gando vacún, de cerda e lanar; hai caza de lebres e perdices: IND.: a agrícola. POBO.: 25 vec.: 122 alm.: CONTR. co seu conc. (V.).
