Oghul Qaïmich (mongol (écriture cyrillique) : Огул Каймиш), est une khatoun, épouse de Güyük, troisième khan suprême des Mongols, fils d'Ögedei et petit-fils de Gengis Khan. Elle est la régente de l'Empire mongol de 1248 à 1251[1].

Biographie

À la mort de Güyük en 1248, elle assuma la régence comme sa belle-mère Töregene l'avait fait entre la mort d'Ögedei en 1241 et l'élection de Güyük en 1246. Elle reçoit, en 1249, l'ambassade envoyée auprès de Güyük par le roi Louis IX et conduite par le dominicain André de Longjumeau[1].

Sa volonté de conserver le khanat suprême au sein de la lignée des Ögödeides (en proposant l'élection de son fils Qutcha ou son neveu Chiremon, désigné comme héritier par Ögedei lui-même[2]) se heurte à Batu, fils de l'aîné de Gengis Khan et fondateur de la Horde d'or, farouche ennemi de son clan. En 1251, le pouvoir suprême passa à la branche de Tolui, le quatrième et dernier fils de Gengis Khan et de Börte, avec l'élection de Möngke, soutenu par Batu. Oghul Qaïmich est mise à mort : Möngke la fait enfermer dans un sac puis noyer, comme le veut la tradition pour les personnes de haut rang.

Les Ögödéides, dont le fief était centré sur la Mongolie, sont par la suite totalement écartés du pouvoir impérial.
