The Washington Post on Yhdysvalloissa Washingtonin kaupungissa ilmestyvä sanomalehti. Se on alueen lehdistä levikiltään suurin ja olemassa olevista vanhin.

Lehti sai maailmanlaajuista kuuluisutta 1970-luvun alussa toimittajiensa Bob Woodwardin ja Carl Bernsteinin Watergate-skandaalia koskevilla tutkimuksilla. Pitkälti näiden juttujen takia presidentti Richard Nixon joutui eroamaan.lähde?

Lehteä kustansi 1970-luvulla Katharine Graham (1917–2001), joka oli myös omistajayhtiön Washington Post Companyn toimitusjohtaja.[1] Omistajayhtiö myi lehden elokuussa 2013 Amazon-verkkokirjakaupan perustaja Jeff Bezokselle. Kauppaan kuului lehden lisäksi seitsemän pienempää julkaisua. Myyjäyhtiön omistukseen jäi Kaplan-koulutusyhtiö ja muutamia muita toimintoja.[2]

Lehden kustantajaksi tuli vuonna 2014 Katharine Weymouthin jälkeen Ronald Reaganin entinen avustaja Frederick J. Ryan Jr., joka oli sitä ennen Politico-lehden toimitusjohtaja.[3]

Vuonna 2024 omistaja Bezos sekaantui lehden toimitukselliseen sisältöön estämällä lehteä kannattamasta kumpaakaan presidentinvaalien ehdokkaista. Yli 200 000 lehden 2,5 miljoonasta tilaajasta perui tilauksensa ja useita kolumnisteja ja toimittajia erosi.[4]
