Seal (oik. Seal Henry Olusegun Olumide Adelo Samuel, s. 19. helmikuuta 1963 Lontoo) on brittiläinen soul-laulaja.

Elämä ja ura

Seal syntyi Lontoon Paddingtonissa. Hänen vanhempansa olivat brasilialaissyntyinen Francis Samuel ja nigerialaissyntyinen Adebisi Samuel. Hän opiskeli arkkitehtuuria ja konetekniikkaa.

Vuonna 1990 Seal oli vierailevana artistina Adamskin singlellä ”Killer”, joka nousi Britanniassa listaykköseksi. Seal sai pian levytyssopimuksen ZTT Recordsilta. Vuonna 1991 ilmestyi hänen ensimmäinen albuminsa, Seal. Vuonna 2002 Seal teki yhdessä Santanan kanssa kappaleen ”You Are My Kind”, joka julkaistiin albumilla Shaman. Syyskuussa 2010 Anna Eriksson ilmoitti tekevänsä Sealin kanssa kappaleen yhdessä. Kyseinen kappale, ”You Get Me”, julkaistiin Seal 6: Commitment -albumilla.[1]

Perhe

Seal on ollut naimisissa saksalaisen huippumallin Heidi Klumin kanssa. He ovat vuonna 2012 ilmoittaneet eroavansa. Heillä on liitostaan kolme yhteistä lasta: vuosina 2005 ja 2006 syntyneet pojat sekä vuonna 2009 syntynyt tytär. Perheeseen kuuluu myös Klumin tytär Leni (s. 2004).

Sairaus

Sealin kasvot ovat tyypillinen esimerkki ihon punahukan (Discoid lupus erythematosus - DLE) aiheuttamista arvista. Seal on kertonut haastatteluissa, että tauti iski häneen teini-iässä. Se ei ainoastaan aiheuttanut kasvojen arpia, mutta myös vaikutti päänahassa aiheuttaen hiusten lähdön. Laulajan tila on kuitenkin pysynyt vakaana jo vuosia.[2][3]
