REN TV:n logo

REN TV (ven. РЕН ТВ) on yksi Venäjän suurimmista televisiokanavista. Sen omistavat 70-prosenttisesti Venäjän poliittista johtoa lähellä olevat yritykset Rossija-pankki (ven. Акционерный коммерческий банк Россия, Aktsionernyi kommertšeski bank Rossija), Severstal (ven. Северсталь) ja Surgutneftegaz (ven. Сургутнефтегаз) sekä loput 30 prosenttia luxemburgilais-saksalainen RTL Group.

Kanava on perustettu 1. tammikuuta 1997. Ren TV kuuluu katsojaluvuiltaan keskikastiin heti päätelevisiokanavien 1TV, NTV ja Rossija jälkeen.

Historia

REN TV -televisiokanava juontuu vuonna 1991 perustettuun tuotantoyhtiöön. Yritys teki laajalti sisältöä Venäjän päätelevisiokanaville. Tuotantoyhtiön perustaneet kaksi yksityishenkilöä Irena ja Dmitri Lesnevski muuttivat yhtiön REN TV televisiokanavaksi vuonna 1997.

REN TV:n omistusrakenne muuttui ajan myötä ja sen osakkaina ehtivät toimia Moskovan kaupunki, Lukoil ja RAO UES. Vuoteen 2005 mennessä Irena ja Dmitri Lesnevski omistivat 30 prosentin osuuden ja energiajätti RAO JeES 70 prosentin osuuden televisiokanavasta. Osapuolet myivät osakkeensa teräsyhtiö Severstalille, öljy- ja kaasuyhtiö Surgutneftegazille ja saksalaiselle Bertelsmannin omistamalle RTL:lle. Samalla kanava lopetti Venäjän poliittisen johdon kritisoimisen.[1]

Vuonna 2007 omistus muuttui jälleen. Abros Capital Co. osti suurimman osan Severstalin ja Surgutneftegazin osuuksista. Abros Capital Co. on pietarilaisen Rossija-pankin tytäryhtiö. Pankin hallituksen puheenjohtaja Juri Kovaltšuk on Venäjän presidentin Vladimir Putinin läheinen ystävä.[2] Kaupan myötä Rossija-pankki nousi Ren TV:n suurimmaksi omistajaksi 56 prosentilla.
