Prudente de Morais

Prudente José de Morais e Barros (ääntäminen: [pruˈdẽtʃi ʒoˈzɛ di moˈrajs ˈbaʁus]; 4. lokakuuta 1841 – 3. joulukuuta 1902) oli kolmas Brasilian presidentti. Hän oli maan ensimmäinen siviilipresidentti, joka valittiin vuoden 1891 perustuslain mukaisesti, ja ensimmäinen, joka pysyi toimessaan koko virkakautensa ajan 15. marraskuuta 1894 – 15. marraskuuta 1898. Hänen valtakauttaan leimasi maan koillisosassa puhjennut kapina, jonka Brasilian armeija murskasi. Hän joutui kohtaamaan myös diplomaattisuhteiden katkeamisen entisen emämaan Portugalin kanssa. Tässä tilanteessa Yhdistyneen kuningaskunnan kuningatar Viktoria toimi onnistuneesti välittäjänä.

Ennen presidentiksi valintaansa Prudente oli ollut São Paulon osavaltion kuvernööri ja senaatin puhemies vuosina 1891–1894.
