Liberian senaatti

Liberian senaatti (engl. Senate of Liberia) on Liberian parlamentin ylähuone. Se koostuu 30 vaaleilla valitusta senaattorista. Jokaisesta maan piirikunnasta valitaan kaksi senaattoria. Senaatin toiminta muistuttaa paljon Yhdysvaltojen senaattia: tasavallan varapresidentti toimii senaatin puhemiehenä, ja mikäli tämä on estynyt, sijalla toimii pro tempore -puheenjohtaja. Senaattorit valitsevat pro tempore -puheenjohtajan keskuudestaan kuuden vuoden välein.[1]

Senaattorien toimikausi on yhdeksän vuotta, ja vaaleissa valitaan aina puolet kerrallaan, eli koko senaatti ei vaihdu yksissä vaaleissa.[2] Senaattoriksi valitun on oltava vähintään 30-vuotias ja syntyperäinen Liberian kansalainen.[3]
