Leonard Lake

Leonard Thomas Lake (29. lokakuuta 1945 – 6. kesäkuuta 1985) oli 1980-luvulla Yhdysvalloissa vaikuttanut sarjamurhaaja, joka toimi yhdessä Charles Ng -nimisen rikoskumppaninsa kanssa. Kaksikko kuuluu Yhdysvaltojen pahamaineisimpiin sarjamurhaajiin.

Lakella oli rikoskumppaninsa kanssa varmuudella ainakin 11 uhria, mutta hän on mahdollisesti murhannut jopa 25 ihmistä. 1980-luvun alussa Lake tutustui Charles Ng:iksi esittäytyneeseen mieheen, joka etsi itselleen majapaikkaa. Kaksikko tuli toimeen huomatessaan toisissaan samanlaisia mieltymyksiä.

Vuosien varrella Lake ja Ng murhasivat monia ihmisiä Laken tilalla Calaverasin piirikunnassa Kaliforniassa. Uhreista kolme oli naisia, kaksi heistä naapureiden vaimoja, joiden miehet ja pienet lapset myös murhattiin. Lake oli murhannut näitä ennen myös oman veljensä ja sulhasmiehensä, joiden omaisuuden ja henkilöllisyyden hän varasti. Lake ja Ng kuvasivat videolle itseään raiskaamassa ja kiduttamassa naisia Laken tilan pienessä bunkkerissa.

Vuonna 1985 Leonard Lake joutui pidätetyksi ampuma-aserikoksesta. Nopeasti tämän jälkeen hän teki itsemurhan syanidikapselin avulla pidätyssellissä. Hän oli kuollessaan 39-vuotias. Tämä herätti poliisin huomion ja nopeasti itsemurhan jälkeen poliisi alkoi tutkia hänen tilaansa Kaliforniassa. Tilalta poliisi löysi ihmisten jäännöksiä. Jäännöksien lisäksi löytyi myös videonauhoja uhreista sekä Laken 250-sivuinen päiväkirja, joka kuvasi miesten fantasioita ja hirmutekoja.

Vuonna 1985 Laken rikostoveri Charles Ng jäi kiinni Kanadassa ja sai lopulta kuolemantuomion Kaliforniassa 1999.
