Ivo Malec

Ivo Malec (30. maaliskuuta 1925 Zagreb – 14. elokuuta 2019 Pariisi)[1] oli kroatialaissyntyinen, ranskalaistunut säveltäjä[2], tyyliltään avantgardisti. Hän opiskeli Pariisissa ja asettui sinne pysyvästi vuonna 1959.[3] Hänen keskeisin opettajansa oli Pierre Schaeffer.[4]

Malecin varhaisista sävellyksistä monet ovat elektronisia, usein musique concrète -tyylisiä, mistä esimerkkejä ovat Mavena (1957) ja Breaths II (1961). Jälkimmäisessä teoksessa käytetään hengitysääniä. Monissa muissakin teoksissa, kuten Tutti-sävellyksessä (1962) orkesterille ja nauhalle, käytetään perinteisten soitinten kanssa yhdessä elektroniikkaa. Osin André Bretonin Nadjaan pohjautuvassa teoksessa Oral (1966–1967) esiintyy orkesterin kanssa resitoija.[3]

Vuonna 1972 Malecista tuli Pariisin konservatorion professori.[3] Hän opetti siellä vuoteen 1990.[4] Hänelle erityistä suosiota tuoneita teoksia ovat Acro 11 (1975) ja Bassa (1983–1984).[3] 1980-luvulta Malec on suosinut pelkkien orkesterien ja muiden kokoonpanojen soitinten ääntä, mistä esimerkkejä ovat teokset Exempla (1994), Sonoris causa (1997) ja Epistola (2006).[4]

Malec oli Kunnialegioonan jäsen ja Ordre des Arts et des Lettres’n Commandeur.[2]
