Sirius Passet Groenlandiako iparraldeko arkeologia aztarnategi bat da, Kanbriar garaikoa.[1] Ipar-ekialdeko Groenlandiako natura parkea zaintzen duen Sirius patruilak eman dio izena.

Geologia

Groenlandian iparralderen dagoen J.P. Koch fiordoaren ekialdeko ertzean kokaturiko sei eremutan aurkitu dira fosilak.[1] Kanadako Burgess Shale aztarnategi ezaguna baino 10-15 milioi urte zaharragoa da, Txinako Maotianshan Shales aztarnategiaren garaikidea. Duela 518 eta 508 milioi urte artean eratu zen.[2] Analisi geokimikoek erakutsi dutenez aurkituriko izakiak gutxieneko oxigenoaren mugan bizi ziren eta oxigeno gabezia horri esker kontserbatu izan dira fosilak halako egoera onean.[3]

Historia

A. Higginsek aurkitu zuen, 1984 urtean egindako espedizio geologiko batean. 1987an Simon Conway Morrisek ikerketaren emaitzak argitaratu zituen, eta ordutik aurrera Conway Morrisek berak eta J. S. Peelek hainbat espedizio gidatu zituzten bertara.[4]

Artropodoak dira nagusi Sirius Passet aztarnategiko fosilen artean; hala ere, trilobiteen bi espezie baino ez dira aurkitu.[5] Honako genero hauek aurkitu dira:
