Pentazola konposatu ez-organiko aromatikoa da, HN5 formula duena Historikoki azolen klaseko kide gisa sailkatzen da, hots, konposatu organikoen artean[1].

Pentazolaren deribatu ordezkatuei ere pentazol esaten zaie. Hidrogeno-atomoaren ordezkapenez eratzen dira eta ordezkatzaileak organikoak izaten dira. Normalean ez-egonkorrak eta lehergarriak izaten dira.

4-Dimetilaminofenilpentazola

Fenilpentazola izan zen sintetizatutako lehen pentazol ordezkatua. Pentazol eraztuna fenilo eraztunarekin konjugatuz egonkortzen da. Modu berean jokatzen du 4-dimetilaminofenilpentazolak, pentazolik egonkorrenetako bat[2].
