Vishnuren hamar avatarrak. Erlojuaren norabidean eta goizko ezkerretik hasita: Matsia, Kurma, Varaja, Vamaná, Krishna, Kalki, Buddha, Paraśu Rāma, Rāma eta Narasimha; zentroan Krishna eta Rādhā.

Avatar edo avatara (sanskritoz अवतार Avatāra, "jaisten dena") hinduismoan Jainko baten lurreko gizakundea da, batez ere Vishnurena. Adibidez, Krishna Vishnuren zortzigarren avatarra dela esaten da.

Jainkoen avatarrak 29 dira (39 beste zenbait iturriren arabera), baina hitz honen bidez eskuarki Vishnuren 10 avatar ezagunenak eta irudikatuenak adierazi ohi dira: Matsya (arraina), Kurma (dortoka), Varaha (basurdea), Narasimha (giza lehoia), Vamana (nanoa), Parashurama (Rama aizkora duela), Rama, Krishna, Buda eta Kalki (zaldiarekiko gizona edo zaldi-burua duen gizona).

Hitza Jainkoaren edozein gizakunderako erabiltzen da, beste erlijio batzuetan ere. Tradizio dharmikoak dituztenek Jesukristoren pertsonaia azaltzeko ere erabiltzen dute Avatar hitza.
