El LCR Team es un equipo de motociclismo fundado por el italiano Lucio Cecchinello en 1996. Actualmente compite en el Campeonato del Mundo de MotoGP bajo los nombres de LCR Honda Castrol, con Johann Zarco y LCR Honda Idemitsu, con Takaaki Nakagami. También compite en la Copa Mundial de MotoE bajo el nombre de LCR E-Team con el brasileño Eric Granado y el español Miquel Pons.

Con más de 25 años de experiencia y una larga trayectoria, por LCR han pasado pilotos como Casey Stoner, Cal Crutchlow, Jack Miller, Carlos Checa, Randy De Puniet, Álex Márquez y Álex Rins entre otros.

Historia

En octubre de 2005, el equipo, junto con Casey Stoner, supuestamente habia llegado a un acuerdo para pasar a MotoGP en la temporada 2006 con el apoyo de Yamaha. Una vez finalizada la temporada, Stoner recibió una oferta del equipo Honda Pons y probó la Honda RC211V con ellos en Valencia.[1]​ Con la salida de Stoner del equipo, el LCR tuvo que suspender su proyecto de MotoGP. Sin embargo, en diciembre de 2005, Stoner inesperadamente volvió a estar disponible después de que Honda Pons no consiguiera el patrocinio para la próxima temporada. El LCR inmediatamente volvió a contratar a Stoner y llegó a un acuerdo con HRC para utilizar la RC211V en 2006.

Stoner logró la primera pole position del equipo en apenas su segunda carrera de MotoGP en el Gran Premio de Qatar.[2]​ En la siguiente carrera en Turquía, el LCR y Stoner lograron su primer podio en MotoGP. Stoner luchó con Marco Melandri durante toda la carrera, hasta que Melandri logró sobre la linea de meta.[3]​ Stoner terminó la temporada en octava posición con varias carreras entre los 10 primeros. Stoner dejó el equipo para pilotar para el equipo de fábrica de Ducati en 2007.[4]​ El veterano piloto español Carlos Checa lo reemplazó en el equipo, conduciendo la nueva Honda RC212V de 800cc.[5]​[6]​ Sin embargo, el equipo no pudo repetir los resultados de 2006, ya que Checa tuvo problemas para adaptarse a la nueva moto de 800cc y su mejor resultado fue un sexto puesto en los Grandes Premios de España y San Marino.

Randy de Puniet se incorporó al equipo en 2008.[7]​[8]​ Una vez más, el equipo tuvo problemas con la moto satélite y los neumáticos Michelin. El mejor resultado de De Puniet fue sólo la sexta posición en el Gran Premio de Estados Unidos. En la temporada 2009, De Puniet, una vez más con la RC212V, pero con neumáticos Bridgestone, ya que MotoGP pasó a la regla de un solo fabricante de neumáticos. En el Gran Premio de Gran Bretaña, De Puniet terminó tercero, su mejor resultado con el equipo y el primer podio del equipo en la categoría reina desde el podio de Stoner en 2006. En 2010, De Puniet terminó la temporada en novena posición a bordo de una Honda RC212V, siendo su mejor resultado un cuarto puesto en el Gran Premio de Cataluña.[9]​ Tras la marcha de De Puniet al equipo Pramac Racing[10]​[11]​, el equipo fichó al actual campeón del mundo de Moto2 Toni Elías para la temporada 2011[12]​[13]​[14]​, y Elías terminó 15º en el campeonato, terminando cinco carreras entre los diez primeros.
