Isabel de Este (Módena, 3 de octubre de 1635-Colorno, 21 de agosto de 1666)[1] fue duquesa de Parma y Plasencia como la segunda esposa del duque Ranuccio II Farnesio. Fue la abuela paterna de Isabel Farnesio, reina consorte de España.
Isabel era hija del duque de Módena y Reggio, Francisco I de Este, y de María Farnesio, hija del duque de Parma y Plasencia, Ranuccio I Farnesio. Era la hermana de dos duques de Módena, Alfonso IV de Este (1634-1662) y Reinaldo III de Este (1655-1737). A la muerte de su madre, su padre volvió a casarse dos veces más.
Después de la muerte de su primera esposa, Margarita Yolanda de Saboya, Ranuccio II Farnesio se casó en 1663 con su prima, Isabel, hija de la hermana de su padre. Sin embargo, la pareja sólo se reunió el 18 de febrero de 1664, cuando Isabel llegó a Parma. Para esta ocasión, se organizaron una celebración grandiosa y espectáculos musicales. Isabel era una sutil conocedora de la música, patrocinaba al virtuoso violinista y compositor italiano Marco Uccellini. La pareja tuvo tres hijos, de los cuales todos sobrevivirían la infancia. Sólo el último, Eduardo, tendría descendencia, el cual fue padre de Isabel Farnesio, reina consorte de España y ancestro de la realeza más moderna.
Pero el nacimiento de su hijo resultó fatal a Isabel, que murió de complicaciones nueve días más tarde, el 21 de agosto de 1666, en Colorno. Fue enterrada dos días después en la Basílica de Santa María de la Steccata, en la ciudad de Parma. Su marido volvió a casarse en octubre de 1668 con su hermana, María de Este.[2] Con ella tuvo otros siete hijos, así como los dos últimos duques de Parma de la Casa de Farnesio.
