José María de PEREDA y Sánchez Porrúa (Polanco, 6a de Februaro 1833 - Santandero, 1a de Marto 1906) estis hispana romanisto de la realisma periodo, aŭtoro de famaj ĝenrismaj romanoj. Li estis ankaŭ politikisto, aliĝinta al la karlismo. Lia plej konataj verkoj estas Peñas arriba, De tal palo tal astilla, La puchera kaj, precipe, Sotileza, kiuj havigis al li grandan famon, kio rezultis en la fakto, ke en 1872 li estis nomumita membro de la Real Academia Española.

Li ne estis diligenta studento kaj komencis sian karieron kombinante beletron kun ĵurnalismo, inter Santandero kaj Madrido. En 1871 Pereda estis elektita deputito el la distrikto Cabuérniga kaj en la karlisma partio. Tio ebligis amikecon kun verkistoj de tute apartaj ideologio, kiel Galdós kaj Leopoldo Alas «Clarín».

En la 1870-aj jaroj lia verkaro transiris el ĝenrismaj rakontoj al pli ambiciaj romanoj.
