Friedrich August WOLF (naskiĝis la 15-an de februaro 1759 en Hainrode; mortis la 8-an de aŭgusto 1824 en Marsejlo) estis germana klasikfilologo kaj fakulo pri malnovaj kulturoj.

Vivo

Friedrich August Wolf vizitis lernejon en Nordhausen. De 1777 li studis filologion en Göttingen kaj en 1779 iĝis instruisto en Ilfeld. En 1782 li estris la lernejo en Osterode, kaj de 1783 laboris kiel profesoro pri filologio kaj pedagogio en Halle. Post la fermo de la universitato de Halle fare de Napoleono, li iĝis en 1807 ano de la Scienca Akademio en Berlino. Li vojaĝis al Francio en aprilo 1824 kaj tie mortis.

Verko

Lia ĉefa verko estas "Prolegomena ad Homerum", kie li esploras kritike la verkojn de Homero pri iliaj deveno kaj dubas pri la nura aŭtoreco de Homero. La scienco pri malnovaj kulturoj naskiĝis kiel universala disciplino danke al kunlaboro de Friedrich August Wolf, Wilhelm von Humboldt, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe und Friedrich Schiller. Laŭ Wolf, ankaŭ en edukado, la klasika filologio havu gravan rolon kaj helpu al harmonia formado de la homo.
