I'm planning to break the list of artists down by subcategory: The duos, groups and project acts are going to the new Category:Dance musical groups listing. Hi! First, thanks for your move of DCPIP, good job. I see on your userpage that you are a programmer, and I was wondering if you could help us. Within the Chemicals projects we are for some time looking for a programmer; we are looking for someone who would be capable to make a 'copy' of the Special:ISBN page (see also Wikipedia:Book sources). The copy should load Wikipedia:Chemical sources. That page is now a repository for external links of institutions and companies, I have done some deeplinking into some of the pages, where possible (stopped with that, because, well, maybe it is impossible and all that work would be for nothing .. vide infra). Most chemicals have some unique identifiers, mainly the CAS number, InChI, but also things like chemical formula or SMILES are possible. Shortly, we would like to have a page like the Special:ISBN, which could take a number of parameters (say, CAS, INCHI, MOLFORM, etc.), and would then load Wikipedia:Chemical sources with the appropriate links (making use of a set of MAGIC-numbers). I hope I wrote my question clear (I'm not much of a programmer, though I do understand most of the basic techniques), and I hope you can help us, would you be able to write the code, and find a way of hardcoding that into the Wikipedia machine? Why did you remove Category:Formerly stateless people from Vahan Gevorgyan article? According to Polish Wikipedia (pl:Vahan Gevorgyan), he received Polish citizenship on May 20, 2003. Before that he had been a stateless person. Jacek Kendysz 19:58, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

Your "step" template is way off because it implies a linear progression that doesn't really exist. For example, the Web as created by Berners-Lee drew concepts from the Virtual Notebook System (like the term "page"), HyperCard, Xanadu, and many others, not just his own project, ENQUIRE. No professional historian of technology would describe the advance of technology as linear! Please study a book on the social construction of technology. I recommend Wiebe Bijker's Bulbs, Bicycles and Bakelites, though Bijker's work is very difficult to understand. --Coolcaesar 16:31, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

I agree that the neutrality of the article is probably compromised, and I am most likely guilty for much, if not most, of it. I will try to work on this, as well as making better references (footnotes?). But I also like to add to the article as events happen, and I wish others would contribute too, but this recently largely has not been the case. Obviously eradicating some of those words would require more extensive research so that the writing can be more precise. Do you have any particular suggestions? That article will change for however long Bush remains in power. I'd look at the first term article and make some comparisons: that was a bit less fawning. During your recent edits of article File Transfer Protocol, two categories that were removed from it: [[Category:Internet protocols]] and [[Category:Internet standards]] are actually essential to retain there. I had reverted your edits that have been rejected and hence this message. Do you disagree that FTP is one of the basic application protocol of Internet? My rationale is if someone is browsing these categories, they should be able to find all that falls under that category. I was rather surprised that these pages were merged into the SAPI page. I thought the old pages were fine, and the current SAPI page seems to just becoming a repository of random speech-related stuff. I think there was a discussion and the idea of removing Windows Text-To-Speech was proposed, but I didn't expect every article related to Microsoft Speech was gonna get deleted. First, let me say that I like the idea of Wikipedia:WikiProject Integration. Although it is a project of a monumental scope, it would make information significantly easier to locate. I did notice something a little odd, though. It seems that Template:Limbo is in limbo. It appears that it was originally created in response to the discussion here. On 01 MAR 2006, the TfD debate for this template was closed with the words "The result of the debate was delete." Apparently it was deleted, but then on 17 SEP 2006 you created a template with the same name, but with a different purpose in mind, if I'm reading it correctly. The template remains unused, except as a tongue-in-cheek use on a userpage. I was wondering... how do you foresee this template being used in the Integration project? As for the Limbo template, the idea came up when I found an article that looked like some analysis, but didn't break any immediate Wikipedia rules that I'm aware of. That's no problem. I was actually monitoring linkspam through a new bot that I'm working on with a couple of admins. When I saw multiple Amazon.com links show up, I decided to head over. Whereas most would be trying to add their Amazon.com item to many Wikipedia pages to make more money, I noticed you were simply working on an article. Long story short, don't worry about it too much. The words ISBN ############ next to each other are automatically changed by the server, so there's no need to worry about linking. :) thadius856_talk 23:19, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

There was a great Firefox toolbar that supported different functions, but its not maintained very well: I need to try making my own sometime. The merged article is a mess, as the different craft have very little to do with each other and would probably be better off in the specific articles for their own fictional sources, like the game or movie that they came from. Plus, it's hopelessly incomplete and indiscriminate if you want to include all fictional military aircraft in the article--where's Airwolf or every plane included in a shmup? In March 05 you merged vote banking into early voting. I've worked in elections for quite a while and never heard these things be synonymous. I noticed that the Category you created regarding "Windows security", is likely headed for deletion. I understand that categories like this take quite some time to develop and flesh out, yet this particular one appears to be unwelcome at Wikipedia, unless I'm misunderstanding the argument. The merge effort at Cymbal manufacturers is currently dead in the water. Following prodding of some articles on minor cymbal manufacturers, the WP:AMA process led to a tentative recommendation to merge a number of such articles to the above (which presumably should be List of cymbal manufacturers instead). Though I'm not directly involved, I've been trying to bring in people with relevant expertise. WikiProject Integration seemed like a perfect fit, only there seems to be little activity at the moment — thus me coming to ask you directly about this. Can you offer any perspectives, recommendations, or precedents on this situation? Is there a task force established for actual integration of articles? What of the condition of Category:Cymbal manufacturers compared to other manufacturing company categories/lists? –Unint 21:36, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

I just wanted to make a formal statement that I was not attempting to spam Wikipedia, but to highlight unique applications I've come across. As a sysadmin for a rental car firm, I'm trying to eliminate my predecessor's ugly use of Access Manager, but I wrote up the article after finding the one on At Ease which I used as a teen in junior-high school. Thanks for your note, the problem was that the articles struck the wrong note. Rather than being encyclopaedic (as per WP:Notability etc) they read rather like promotional pieces. It's usually something of a judgement call dealing with a situation like this, but given that you are clearly a bona fide editor I do not consider that WP:CSD#G11 or WP:SPAM apply in this situation. That being the case I will undelete the articles and leave them open for your improvement.

Hello, you recently removed the {{notability}} template from YOPER, saying "YOPER's been around for a few years now: striking notability concern"

However, age is completely irrelevant to notability; to establish notability, articles need to cite multiple reliable, published and independent sources. I am increasingly annoyed that people just remove these notability tags without even reading the guideline it is linking to. I should have provided a more clearer reasoning then. Its been around for a few years and is actively maintained. That does not establish notability either. Wikipedia articles need to be verifiable; that is, a reader or another editor must be able to verify the claims made in that article. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Thanks for uploading Image:Messengerspam.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
