Information icon Hello, I'm Donald Albury. I noticed that you recently removed content from Tampa, Florida without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Severe damage from hurricanes is not limited to the path of the center. Donald Albury 16:52, 9 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Donald, the verbiage in the article uses the term “landfall” when describing Milton. Although the hurricane impacted a broad area, it did not make landfall in the immediate Tampa Bay Area, as Sarasota County is excluded from this definition. Saying Milton made landfall in the immediate TB Area is simply false.
I put this on your talk page as well. Wasn’t sure which was the best way to communicate. Stepheneric8 (talk) 17:48, 9 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Either is fine. Further discussion of the content of the article should be at the article's talk. I have edited the page to remove any mention of the recent hurricanes making landfall in Tampa. There was no reason to removed the sourced content about the damage sustained in Tampa from the storms. Donald Albury 18:17, 9 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Can we tone down the language about the 2024 hurricanes? The article does not say they were the first hurricanes to impart significant wind damage in 100 years; it says Helene caused the worst storm surge in 100 years. Actually the article emphasizes how Milton was not as bad as expected for TB Area. Can the text be this, and can it come after the statement of no landfalls occurring since the 1921 hurricane? Ideally I think it should be at the end of the subsequent paragraph (after discussion of Irma).
Hurricane Milton and to a lesser extent, Hurricane Helene, impacted the area in 2024 as major hurricanes. Helene inundated coastal communities with the highest surge in 100 years, while Milton was primarily a rain and flood event. Stepheneric8 (talk) 11:39, 10 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
