Thanks for your work so far, but I wanted to mention that edits like this one, where you change a link to a redirect to instead point to the redirect's target location, are totally unnecessary. The redirect works just fine, and actually has several advantages. You can see some reasoning at WP:NOTBROKEN. Thanks! Powers T 13:07, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled. On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note. Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:15, 15 March 2011 (UTC) for for → forJust checking an old article and read that you "fixed: for for → for using AWB". Thought I'd point out that the sentence in question was only correct with two "fors". I don't know what AWB is, but if it's some sort of robot or something you may need to change to actually checking edits yourself, as it's not hugely effective. (Having undone this edit quite a few times now I've simply reworded the sentence in the latest version.) Unfortunately you replaced a number of HTML codes such as "& middot;" [I added a space to prevent the code being translated] with text. The reason the HTML codes were there was to ensure correct display of these characters on all devices. In view of this, I have undone your edit". Martinvl (talk) 12:42, 21 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi Lightlowemon, I'm just following up on the comments you made on the FLC for List of songs recorded by Jason Newsted: are you happy with the further efforts of GrappleX on the page, or are there still some further points that need addressing. You are, of course, under no compunction to add any further comments or support, but in my role as delegate I thought I'd check. All the best. - SchroCat (talk) 23:05, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

I know this is your way of helping out at Wikipedia, but AWB is not consistent in how it makes corrections. It is not helpful. These articles are in various stages of review, or have been reviewed in the format they need to be. AWB tends to use a scattershot approach on how it works, changing one instance of something but not others. Those reviews get quite picky on formatting. I'd rather manually make the adjustments myself, and don't want AWB coming in afterwards and diddling on it. Please stop running AWB on all articles connected to Audie Murphy. Bots
What, exactly, is breaking? The "default continuation mode" for action=query requests to api.php will be changing to be easier for new coders to use correctly. To find out whether your script or bot may be affected, then search the source code (including any frameworks or libraries) for the string "query-continue". If that is not present, then the script or bot is not affected. In a few cases, the code will be present but not used. In that case, the script or bot will continue working. This change will be part of 1.26wmf12. It will be deployed to test wikis (including mediawiki.org) on 30 June, to non-Wikipedias (such as Wiktionary) on 1 July, and to all Wikipedias on 2 July 2015. If your bot or script is receiving the warning about this upcoming change (as seen at https://www.mediawiki.org/w/api.php?action=query&list=allpages ), it's time to fix your code!
Either of the above solutions may be tested immediately, you'll know it works because you stop seeing the warning. Do you need help with your own bot or script? Ask questions in e-mail on the mediawiki-api or wikitech-l mailing lists. Volunteers at m:Tech or w:en:WP:Village pump (technical) or w:en:Wikipedia:Bot owners' noticeboard may also be able to help you. Are you using someone else's gadgets or user scripts? Most scripts are not affected. To find out if a script you use needs to be updated, then post a note at the discussion page for the gadget or the talk page of the user who originally made the script. Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 19:03, 17 June 2015 (UTC) Edit summariesCan you please use better edit summaries than "Clean up using AWB"? That's a subjective term (cleaning up what and in whose opinion does the article need to be cleaned up?) It gives the impression you're running at full speed through lots of articles without thinking about what you're doing. It's currently at MFD, and a large cleanup project is underway to repair the citations damaged by the script. I and several other users have !voted that the script be deleted or disabled, and I wouldn't recommend using it at all unless you thoroughly check every reference it modifies against the previous revision. If you're interested in a more detailed explanation of the script's issues, Folly Mox has provided an excellent summary at the MFD. — SamX [talk · contribs] 05:00, 1 June 2023 (UTC) ArbCom 2023 Elections voter messageHello!
