Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reasons left by Grumpylawnchair were:

Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by Nil NZ was:
This submission reads more like an essay than an encyclopedia article. Submissions should summarise information in secondary, reliable sources and not contain opinions or original research. Please write about the topic from a neutral point of view in an encyclopedic manner.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit it after they have been resolved.

Please take care with translations

Hello Gramirez27, I'm reaching out because I am rather concerned by the article draft you submitted as Draft:Great cultural upheaval. In context, this is clearly an "X in culture" article (ie, a summary article of the various literary & artistic representations of a topic), meaning that the original French title "Grand Dérangement dans la culture" should have been translated as "The Great Upheaval in culture", and absolutely not as "Great cultural upheaval." I can find no evidence that the latter term has ever been used in this context, even though machine translation suggests it for this phrase.

This kind of mistake is why the English Wikipedia considers an unedited machine translation to be worse than nothing. When you produce a translation, you are responsible for ensuring that it is accurate, and also that it complies with the English Wikipedia's policies about notability, original research, and sourcing.

I will decline the draft for now because I am concerned it may contain more errors. When you feel you have been able to thoroughly check it for suitability at enwiki, please feel free to resubmit it. ~ le 🌸 valyn (talk) 02:02, 24 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Gramirez27, I've just noticed Bellows (ornament), and it also strikes me as very problematic. The article is named "bellows" but it uses "soufflet" universally in the body, and contains a footnote stating that the English name for the soufflet is a "dagger". (I was also able to verify that one English-language source, Church Building and Society in the Later Middle Ages, does use the terms "daggers and mouchettes" for the devices). You translated that footnote -- why didn't you name the article Dagger (ornament)? Additionally, the wikilinks to mouchette are not appropriate on enwiki, since that article is about a 60s film. I'm pinging the OKA organizer 7804j here because I am concerned that these translations have not had the necessary care taken. ~ le 🌸 valyn (talk) 20:28, 29 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
I've also just noticed Respite Sanctuaire, published shortly before my prior message. This kind of shrine is called in French a sanctuaire à répit and in English a "respite sanctuary" (see these sources: [1], [2]), but the article title uses the strange construction "respite sanctuaire" and the article itself uses "reprieve sanctuary" (a term for which I find absolutely no results).
Gramirez27, can you please respond to confirm that from now on you will double-check your translations to confirm that the article and its title use the same name for the subject at hand, and that the name is a valid English name for that subject? I would also appreciate it if you would repair the Bellows (ornament) and Respite Sanctuaire articles. ~ le 🌸 valyn (talk) 22:54, 30 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the feedback; I'll take care of this right away. Thanks again. Gramirez27 (talk) 01:41, 31 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Your submission at Articles for creation: Great Upheaval in culture (July 24)

Draft declined
Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. Your draft submission to Articles for creation has been reviewed but not accepted at this time.
Feedback
The reviewer, LEvalyn, left the following feedback:
This translation of the French "Grand Dérangement dans la culture" was originally submitted with the title "Great cultural upheaval": exactly what machine translation suggests, but in context, a mis-translation so severe it makes me doubt the accuracy and enwiki-suitability of the rest of the text. (I can find no evidence of an artistic event called the "Great cultural upheaval", which this is very obviously a "Great Upheaval in culture" article in its structure.) I am declining to allow the submitter a chance to review the rest of their text. Viau's 1997 book does indicate that this is a notable topic, but an unreviewed machine translation is worse than nothing, so the translator must be careful to review it well.

Next steps

  • Edit Draft:Great Upheaval in culture to address the points above, making sure to publish any changes.
  • When you are ready to resubmit your draft for review, click the Resubmit button.
