Archiving H2 sections which sit under H1 'YYYY' headers
I'm helping a user at their Talk page: User talk:Irtapil#Talk page archival, and after their config was added, archiving kicked in right away and looks good. User:Irtapil wishes to group discussions under H1 YYYY section headers (e.g. = 2024 =), and I believe that this is compatible with the bot archiving standard H2 discussion threads, but I wanted to make sure. I presume that signed & dated H2 discussions will get archived properly as they individually go stale, is that right? What happens to the H1 headers—do they end up remaining on the talk page to be culled manually later, or do they perhaps get archived when the first H2 under it is archived, or the last one? (As a complicating factor which I presume is unrelated to the general question, the user previously had a heading with unbalanced equal signs; this apparently stopped the bot when it hit that section, but this has since been resolved.) Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 20:06, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
Thanks for the help @Mathglot, but i decided i don't really need the headings, I just got rid of them. Then manually archived the bits that went weird. Irtapil (talk) 14:40, 5 May 2024 (UTC)
Is there a way to protect specific threads from archiving though? there's a few I want to keep. I thought "start at" might work to keep the top few, but it seems that does something else. Irtapil (talk) 14:42, 5 May 2024 (UTC)
Irtapil, Yes, just use the template somewhere within the section to stop archiving a particular discussion section. You can also use it to delay archiving; see the doc page. Mathglot (talk) 18:28, 5 May 2024 (UTC)
Can you check for grammer on Daniele Orsato page because I added his referring on PSG vs Dortmund and his retirement confirmed after the match. The referee was seen in tears after full time which explained he is going to retire after Euro 2024.
The archives for my user talk page currently use the date-based system. Is there any way I could get the bot to use number-based archive system of Archive 1, Archive 2, etc. instead? I'm fine with doing any manual work required to make the swap. Thanks, QuicoleJR (talk) 22:32, 12 May 2024 (UTC)

You should be able to just change the config and the bot will start doing it by numbers, it shouldn't effect any archives you already have - RichT|C|E-Mail14:10, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
It should work, I think. The bot, last I checked, just calculates numbers based on size. You can also give a starting number for the bot to start at. And the bot does indexing based on Special:Prefixindex I believe. — NaomiAmethyst18:13, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
Yes, it's intended. The bot just adds a blank line and then (or actually, ). This is so that whatever was on the page previously doesn't conflict with the new template being added. — NaomiAmethyst15:54, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
